A delicious and warming chili made with diced beef for added texture.
Ingredients
Directions
- Put the oil into a pan over a medium-high heat.
- Add the onions and diced beef to the pan, cook for 5 minutes turning the beef so that it is fully browned.
- Add the tomato puree, cumin, and chilli powder. Mix well so that it is spread evenly with the beef and onion.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer on a low-medium heat for about 90 minutes or until the meat is tender. Cover for first 60 minutes, then remove lid to allow the sauce to reduce.
- In the last 10 minutes of cooking add the drained kidney beans.
- Remove from the heat and serve.
- Note: this could be served with rice, tortillas, tortilla chips, sour cream, guacamole, the choice is yours.

Excellent recipe. We really enjoyed it and will certainly be using it regularly. I adapted it slightly - my other half likes to have peppers in a chilli so I added one green pepper. I used medium curry powder (cos it's what I had in the cupboard)and a small red chilli to add a bit more fire. And I like to have some fresh coriander in a chilli so I stirred some through just before serving. We had it with wholegrain basmati rice. Thank you for sharing it.
