Thanks Chlorella, but most of all I feel much better physically and mentally! I've always been really thin up to my 20s....I have to come back to how I was now that I'm 42!! 😉👍💪

Yup, I got you. I’m 43 myself and this year I was at my heaviest weight... that’s why I’m using this app, to have a real control of what I’m eating. Not just counting calories, but also recording in a journal how I feel energy and mood wise... Bc I think food energy/mood etc it’s all related. With a good hormone balance (and again food and exercise are pivotal here) we shouldn’t have a very different weight in our 40s that we had in our 20s... well this is my belief 🙂. I’m glad you’re finding yourself physically and mentally stronger. I love that We can always rediscover and reinvent ourselves ❤️💕

I weigh pretty much the same in my 50's as I did in my 20's. But the main difference is that I have to work at it now, since I was 35 really. I made a special effort going into my 50's and was top of my game but since menopause started I have found things hard going. But I agree Chlorella that good exercise and eating regimes help stabilse hormones.

Anne I have work at it as well nowadays, I couldn't bother in the past and it didn't affect at all my shape!! I agree with you and chlorella that excercise and an healthy and balanced diet helps to reach our goal! Anyway me recent problem was not exercise anymore, quantities and too much extra virgin olive oil I guess ....😅

Yes, my main problem is that I eat too many calories. But, I eat and exercise the same as always. So I deduce from that my body requires less calories as I get older and I can't get my head round it. I would love to be 60kgs again but the effort required now isn't conducive to a happy life, in my case.

My mum had her menopause when she was 57 which is quite late. I hope I’ll be like that too (my father’s mum had it at 49)... I don’t look forward to that, to be honest... hormone levels will change and it won’t be just about calories... I’ve just finished a book on hormones and intestinal bacteria. “Transform your health” by Xevi Verdaguer. Very revealing. The problem is that it’s not available in English, but I’m sure there might be sth just as good in English too. There is a chapter just on menopause. What foods are good/not so good for you in order to gain balance and also not to gain weight...

That sounds interesting. Is it in Spanish? I used to be able to read basic Spanish so this might be good practice for my fuzzy menopause brain!

The original is in Catalan. They translated it into Spanish. I read the Spanish version. I can maybe take photos of that chapter and send it to you. I’ve seen that we can do DM here. Still figuring out how this app works 😅😅. I mean, the book is a bit “dense”, even though, I couldn’t put it down. It goes on about pre and probiotics (vegetables, fermented foods, resistant starch and so on), how to get rid of unwanted amounts of oestrogen (apparently they are everywhere: pesticides, water, plastics...). It also demonises sugars, gluten, dairy (if from cow) products, etc... I mean, it can be a bit much, but I guess one can take it to different levels. I’m not gonna stop eating certain things, but I can reduce the quantity or increase it in other products... To sum it up, the key to lose weight (and feel good in general) is hormones, intestinal bacteria, exercise (especially resistance and HIIT...), and mindfulness/meditation etc (to reduce cortisol)... well, at least according to the author ☺️

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to me. I will look into this in greater detail. My body just doesn't do what it used to. Some things are obvious, less sugar, alcohol and calories but I feel I am missing something...............or maybe it is just lockdown taking its toll! But really, thanks again for your help
