Tossing this out there as food for thought. A comment from a book I'm reading: Food Matters by Mark Bittman--a good thought provoking book in MYHO.

"eat more vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains and less meat, sugar, junk food, and over refined carbohydrates--and do so without giving up the foods you love."

Then another "70% of the world's farmland --one third of the ice-free land surface of the earth-is dedicated to livestock directly or indirectly" continuing on that in 2009 1/5 of the world's greenhouse gasses were from growing and processing livestock, it's probably more now. How much is that contributing to the climate changes????? A thought, drive through the state of Iowa and smell the "smell of money" large scale hog farming. You can smell hogs in a private plane well up into the atmosphere.

We produce as a world much more proteins in plants than it would take to feed the world yet most of that plant based protein and nutrients is feed to animals that inefficiently produce protein. So sad. Something like 17% more than the average person's diet would require but we feed most of it to animals or turn it into junk food while many starve. I try hard to decrease that footprint. if more would do it the world would be better. My opinion.

I was talking to my doomsday oriented neighbor today, she is prone to wild theories, though is geared to healthy and we agree on many things. She was making sense to me today with talking about the red moons this summer due to pollution (mostly smoke from the western US fires), the way people have no issues using lots of earth polluting chemicals in their daily lives, and few people are paying attention. She is very into Revelations in the Bible and is equating the red moons as a doomsday sign. I need to re-read both since the Bible was re-written to help convert those following pagan religions back in the middle ages. History fact on that comment.
