wholefoodnut's Journal, 04 Oct 14

Won't let me comment on my journal so adding a new one... good day working on my house. Inside chores are done, only 2 hours, so good. Now it's late for dinner.

Started working on the spare room. Many boxes of paper are stored there, have gone through 3 boxes so far. A goal is to get paper under control. This is making a dent in that. Have tossed a lot in the trash, have some to burn tomorrow. Dang this takes a lot of time!!!

Wishing I had my storage space set up in the upstairs extra bedroom. Issue is I feel that I need to clean it out first, then paint, then put in new storage. Will be sort of extra bedroom/ office space. Getting closer to that goal. Getting rid of the a per clutter will help my mindset.

I have this opinion that one needs to set up storage space first to get rid of clutter. If you don't have a place for it you cannot put it away.

Paper clutter is always coming into the house. I have contacted companies to stop sending me their catalog and they say they will stop but I keep getting them. I tear off my name and address and trash it, then recycle the rest of the catalog or magazine. Love recycling. Feel like I'm doing something for the environment. :)

This is all part of my plan to get my entire life in better shape, not just my weight and physical self. Most of my mail is junk, it now goes directly into the recycle basket. I have two big roller trash bins the trash company provides; one is trash the other recycle. I recycle everything they will accept. I had given a nice old maple desk to my daughter that was in my extra upstairs bedroom, it was my Mom's and was really too big for that room. Everything that was in it I tossed helter skelter into boxes. Then another desk and dresser that were in the garage I gave to another daughter, more drawers full of stuff tossed into boxes. So am going through many of those boxes, much is paper I do not need. Things like old electric bills, manuals on things I no longer own, 5 years with of planners, why am I keeping this junk? It will feel good to get that room useable again and be able to find things when I need them without spending hours hunting. I'm almost down to everything fitting into the small 2 drawer file cabinet. I should be finishing my stairway but will need both of the guest rooms in a couple weeks. The other one has clothes hanging on the futon bunk bed rails, I need to sort through them to see what fits for winter, what is going to the salvation army. I have one big trash bag full just from the small upstairs closets. My 2 big closets in the basement have not been gone through yet. Getting rid of the too big clothes, I never want to have to wear them again!!

I've got to get to my stored crap. I probably wouldn't miss anything if I just tossed it all, but.... I have looked for some things and haven't found them.. they just might be in that stuff.
