wholefoodnut's Journal, 07 Jun 20

A quick journal while asthma drugs kick in. It is already steamy outside at 9:30 am. heat indexes today around 100 again with high humidity. I Need to get the grass mowed before more rain on Tuesday. Forgot to jump on the scale before getting dressed so for the heck of it did it anyway. Was down 3 pounds for this week. Will do a Monday weigh in and see what the # is.

I like to do grocery shopping in the am or after work. May head that way in the afternoon heat instead. I really need some fresh veggies and fruit among other basics.

So hot! Mid to upper 90s predicted here all week. Take care in this heat.

Shirley, you as well. I think the same here unless the remnants of the tropical storm bring the temps down a bit. Shopping finally done. Takes too long on a weekend afternoon and add covid issues way more time than i wanted. I am starting a whole grain and bean soup from a recipe on the back of the Red Mill package of the grain and bean mix. I know soup and hot weather. I eat soup all year long.

Making soup in my regular pressure cooker as the instant pot takes forever. Will start some whole grain spelt in it before bed as it will take a couple hours in the "instant" pot. Not so instant as it takes almost an hour to get up to pressure and 50 min cooking under pressure. Compare: - my stovetop one about 5 then a few min to vent and a couple min under pressure and turn it off.

Main Coon, i know that is why so many live on the coast with the ocean breezes. Here yesterday was 96 no idea what the heat index was. Supposed to be the same today. My yard mowing is not done. Soup turned out really good but needed 10 minutes cooking. Will definitely buy the Red Mill mix again. I love pressure cookers in the summer because they don't heat up the house much.
