Maria Richards's Journal, 06 Jan 17

I have stayed the same this week after gaining 3 lbs over xmas/new year. I have been nibbling at the leftover goodies (not a huge overindulgence) but enough to stop me losing any weight. At least it's not another gain.

Action Plan 1 - get back on track and hopefully enter a loss this time next week, fingers crossed.

Action Plan 2 - Yesterday hubby and I ordered two folding bicycles! We bought conventional bikes 18 months ago together with a car bike rack (bad move!). The bike rack remained in the box, hubby then changed the car. So said bike rack was never ever going to be used!! Just before xmas we sold the bike rack and both bikes (having used them precisely twice from home). The plan now is cycle paths using the folding bikes which should fit in the boot of the car!! I am a nervous cyclist and won't venture on to roads due to having had a serious accident on a bike some years ago.

Sounds like a great idea with the new bikes!

Good luck Maria, you'll love it. I got rid of my bike as the people in my home town are ghastly drivers and I didn't trust them. Too lazy to drive up to the moors with a bike so now I walk! Love that the rack stayed in the box and you changed cars just to get out of cycling . . . :) :) :)

We have a couple of inactive bikes in our garage. I'm determined to get out on them this year though. I'm nervous though as although I used to cycle about 30 miles a week to and from work, I got out of the habit and from riding motorbikes for so long, it just feels odd breaking with both hands and not a foot (I also have ziltch sense of balance!) Good luck with your plans, Maria
