I hate stress. Got up at about 2 am. Couldn't get back. Ate 3 eggs 2 pieces of toast and an orange. Went back to sleep at 5 and managed to get a couple hours. Now running late. Won't get my quiet time before work, but you can bet I'm getting my espresso. I'll make that a bulletproof.

I get a few days off next week. You know the saying 'A change is as good as a rest'? I'm going to veg one entire day. Then I have 28 books I need to edit and reformat for digital. It's drudge work. I'd much rather be writing something new. I will do that once I get most of those other books edited. Should get half of them done over those few days.

Did you ever try melatonin? I know it takes a little bit to figure out the proper amount your body needs, but it does wonders. Took me about a month, years ago, to figure out that 5 mg are what I need (with melatonin, taking more does NOT make the effect stronger) and I was very careful to follow the "once you start feeling a little sleepy don't 'finish the page' or 'finish the episode', just go to bed" rule. I took it at 9 pm every day and now even if I don't take it, I very rarely get past 10:30 pm. It's a matter of regulating the melatonin production of your body and it does wonders. No drowsy feeling the next day, no waking up during the night.

Must be something with the phase of the moon. I had a restless sleep last night as well. I was tired enough I didn't even go for my morning workout. Getting a few days off sounds good. Good luck on getting everything planned done. Mostly just enjoy your time off.

Wow. I believe that something must be going around. I was up most of the night last night, as well. Even after a Tylenol PM and a dose of Ny-Quil. Might be pre-holiday nerves.

Day. I have tried it but never fiddled with dosages. I may look into that, thanks. TX... that was with a half sleeping pill at 10 PM. Could be tidals.

Valerian, an herb that quiets the mind, decreases anxiety, and helps a restful sleep. It is my go to when the mind refuses to rest and stop spinning thoughts that keep me awake or I simply know the stress of the day will interrupt a needed night's sleep.

Yes, that is very important. For some people 3 mg work out, for some people 5 mg. As I said, taking more does not increase the effect, as it is not a sleeping pill. But it's the only way to bring your body metabolism back on track, and make it start producing melatonin at specific time at night again. So if you follow the rules 1. find your dosage 2. take it at the same time each evening (about 30-45 minutes before you want to go to sleep) and 3. once you start feeling sleepy go straight to bed - it will work. Might take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to get back on track. I personally still take it just because it's one of those alternative therapies that has been proven to help in fighting off cancer.
