wholefoodnut's Journal, 14 Aug 15

Journal #2 today, the first was my musing this is factual. Thankful it's time for 2 days off with no commitments as it's been a hectic week at work and I think that will continue. All the grandkids fall sports etc will kick in shortly. It's nice to have a break and a dry weekend to get outside chores caught up some.

Todays workout: 5 minute pop sugar arms video, then a 15 minute arm TRX video, then tried planks --managed 4 side planks feet on the mat. My arms were exhausted, I think I'll try planks in the am with rested arms. I think that will make a difference as I seem to do them at the end of a workout.

I ate some dark chocolate, should have eaten half of what I did as my body is not liking it.

I've been working on food plans for the next week and have a grocery list done. I did stop and buy fresh tofu at a Vietnamese store on the way home from work. The rest of the list is fruits, veggies, almond milk, and some nuts. Everything else I have as staples. So a trip to Sprouts this weekend. I need to really clean out the frig before I go and some prep on Sunday for next week.

Productive and busy as usual!

Not much, HCB, yesterday. Friday crash day at the end of the week. NM triggered my brain so spent much of the evening watching beginning weight lifting videos. LOL I love my ROKU, something else I learned about here on FS. I'm bored with the machines @ the gym and have been eyeing the free weights, trying a few different things, mostly upper body. MMMM time to do some research and try a few new things.

I have really enjoyed using my little dumbbells for the last two weeks. I am using that 21 day challenge thing. So there is a you tube with arm exercises? Cool! It is definitely a learning process as far as using food to see what makes you feel stronger and what make you feel ill. Keep experimenting.

Free weights are superior because we can adjust to our own range of motion - machines are set up for "regular" sized people - whatever that means...

MOM, lots of them. search for popsugar and lots of good ones there, learned that on the SASSIE challenge. HCB, am going to try more, I've been doing more with my dumbbells but until I get a path through my basement I'm stuck with 5 pounders, LOL. Am heading down there in a few to work on that, taking a break from my horrendous grass mowing on my little lot.

Hope you had good shopping at Sprouts (love that name). We decided that it was cheaper to buy than to spend the money irrigating the garden. At least we got tomatoes and peppers.

I understand the watering the garden issue, most summers the same here. I don't plant a lot of veggies as it's just me, lots of perennial herbs. Always tomatoes but they are not producing this year. I put in a bunch of early greens, they did well with this weather this year, hoping some comes back with cooler fall weather. Just came home fresh corn (not from there) and toast for a quick lunch. Now to put them all away and start some prep for the week in-between mowing, it's hot so lots of breaks. Ran into the middle DD and kids at my quick stop in Walmart, it's half way between their house and mine. I also made a stop at Home Depot for some new shades for my house, it's time to get rid of the rest of the dust catching plantation blinds that half of them don't work right anyway.

I love my plantation blinds. They can get dusty for sure! I have two rain barrels to collect water to water all my veggies, herbs and loads of flowers. Once the barrels go dry, I just water the potted plants and veggies in the raised bed. So far, I have had plenty of water.

Must be nice with the rain barrels. Here most summers it's dry for most of it so the rain barrels don't last long, this summer they would have been flooding LOL. I've only watered the front gardens that I have put in some new perennials this year. RE: my blinds the cords to raise and lower them have mostly all shredded so they are stuck down and the bottoms mostly crooked. Drives me nuts! I like to have them open during the day not just the slats open. They came with the house when I bought it in 2009.
