I feel so bad about myself that I can't reach my goals. It is hard, I wanna starve myself but at the same time I realize I'm gonna overeat after such punishment. It's hard:/

This used to be my way of thinking all of the time, but starving yourself achieves nothing and only makes you overeat 😢 Having a calorie deficit at the moment is really helping me stay motivated and it’s helping me slowly lose weight, maybe it can work for you? Hope this helps! Sending love. I’ve been here mentally too 💖

I’ve been there too. What’s worked in the past? I’m going low carb at the moment and I had forgotten how much easier I find this than other diets. I’m mean, it’s not super easy, I still fancy cakes and chocolate! But I’ve gained back some control. Look at what worked for you before?

Ive been there. Its not easy to get your head in the right space but the way I’ve approached it this time is having patience. Realistically its going to take me a year to loose the amount of weight I want too, so im just pacing myself, day by day. Ive accepted the fact I wont get fast results. Be kind to yourself. I look at this more as self care, not punishing or starving myself.

The trick is not to starve yourself but to take it slow and easy. Let the app work for you... I appreciate that we all want to lose as quick as we can. But life ain't worth it so slow and easy is manageable.... I always eat my max calories and less on a day when I'm more zoned in, doing this I've had a steady loss some weeks a small loss and other weeks a bigger loss, but because I'm not hungry all the time now life is so much easier, it's not the weight loss so much but the re-education of eating habits.. Let's face it if wasn't for these bad habits we wouldn't be here now.. I've retrained myself to not want biscuits(cookies for my transatlantic chums) and sweet things, although I could if I wanted, that's the secret, no denials just choices.. Don't give up....

do not put your body in starvation mode!!! your weight loss program must be sustainable. so use the app and plan to eat 500 cals less than your BMR (basic metabolic rate). There are lots of online calculators which will tell you how many calories you need to maintain your weight.(BMR) A pound of fat contains 3500 calories. therefore, eating 500 cals less than your BMR each day will almost guarantee a pound loss each week. if you can exercise and burn 500 calories for 3 or 4 days that's another half a pound. do not try to lose more than 2 pounds per week it is unsustainable. Good luck

My BMR is 1575. I eat well and stick below 1500 calories a day. I am never hungry. In the past 2 weeks my weight has gone up by nearly 5lbs. Surely I wouldn't be able to manage on just over 1000 calories a day? I am asking this because the disallusionment is starting to kick in now. Any ideas Hmt? Or anyone?

*NOT RECOMMENDED* I did under 1000 for months when later I maintained on 2900 calories and honestly the loses were not that high and really then struggled on upping the calories mentally. BMR minus a couple of hundred is recommended but you need to accurately count the calories and 20 here and there add up.

I am very strict with counting calories. I weigh everything and mainly cook from fresh so there is no second guessing on my daily calorie count. The only things I don't bother to count are a few sprays of one cal oil or an odd garlic clove. To be honest I rarely finish any of my dinners at night, if you've seen my pics you'll understand why, lol. My average daily calorie intake for last week was just under 1200. I'm at a loss to know what is happening at the moment. I wont give up but I'm just a wee bit fed up at the moment

The maths work for 99% of people so stick with it. Only other obvious thing is double check tdee/bmr across a couple of websites as there is variance.

BMR varies from 1515 to 1575 on different websites. I wont give up!

Do not give up. You cannot judge your results by just weight alone. Weight loss or weight gain is not fat loss or gain. For example if you drink a pint of water and you are immediately 1 pound heavier. Try measuring your body composition to assess just how much fat you have, if it stays unchanged week to week then you aren't gaining fat. There are tools online which are pretty accurate just using a tape measure. Or body fat calipers are just a couple of pounds on Ebay.

Remember a pound of fat contains 3500 calories, your body cannot store fat unless there are the excess calories available. I nolonger look like my photo. I let myself go a little in lockdown and here I am 20 pounds over weight. I am looking at early June to be where I want and that's me creating a 3500 cal. deficit each week on food and weight training and rowing 3 or 4 times. It has to be a very slow sustainable process. Please don't give up.

I wont give up but I'm finding this 4 lbs increase in 2 weeks a bit annoying!

I can really relate to this struggle, unfortunately. My intention for this year is to establish a better relationship with food rather than go on crazy diets and put even more weight back on. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Slow and steady wins the race. I plan low cal days to get a quick win on the scales, but also small changes to make it sustainable. Keep going.

In addition to HMTPILOT's comments I think that his logic is perfect. But you have to exercise, even if it's only walking. I'm lucky enough to have been gifted a fitbit that connects to my phone. When I'm on my treadmill I can see when I'm in the fat burn zone. That's what I do for at least 30 minutes every day because I cannot cycle or run with my bad hip. If you create a calorie deficit you will nail it. Keep the faith!
