3 vacation days equals 5 days in a row off!! My much needed break from work in March. Weather is drizzely, chilly, and gray so a good time to continue my inside projects. Thankful I was able to plant a bed of cool weather greens etc. before it's too late. We go from cool to blistering most years very suddenly so not nice to lettuce, cabbage family, and spinach.

Had to catch up a few house chores as I'm behind from not doing things while sick. Thankful also that I'm feeling better and able to be more active. Taking a short break to take meds, still on some. Then get out the bucket and scrub brush, towels. and continue on my mission to rid the kitchen walls of wallpaper glue! Hope to get the rest of the glue off today.

Exercise will be working on the house, lungs are still not up to any cardio without triggering major coughing and still trying to re-gain energy. Won't push it too much. Breaks are allowed...smiles.

Try to enjoy! And, from our last conversation: I am glad you found a WOE that works for you. But you are not going to tell me you don't get tempted by the occasional "yummy". And you resist! So, step up and accept the praise for staying in maintenance. You work hard for this!

Buffy, I LOVE food, all kids of food!! Nothing is really off limits in my plan but I do restrict myself some to avoid asthma and migraine triggers. Also processed junk food and fast foods are something I simply don't like, except for maybe crunchy Cheetos on a hot summer day when I crave salt. If I go over a lot I just adjust for a few days and I'm good. I also simply cannot eat as much as I used to so am happy with smaller amounts. I also like my beer and wine. Bought some beer for my vacation days. I indulge in foods out of my normal everyday plan all the time--- sometimes they don't make me feel very good or plain do not taste good anymore-- the yummy looking bakery treats at work last week went in the trash after a bite-tasteless except for sicky sweet. For example, I don't worry about what I eat much at the lake, fresh catfish fries, BBQ's, crazy last minute everyone bring what they have to the beach and set up a couple grills. With coolers of beer, homemade wine and often moonshine!! Then it's back to my normal WOE once I'm back home. I do like to play and often eating is part of it. So a high calorie weekend means lower calories, lots of veggies during the next week.

Have a great time with your days off! Can you mention what foods make your asthma worse? My son has asthma and I don't think he cares what types of food he eats. lol

Deb, I learned a lot when my neurologist had me keeping track of everything to see what was triggering migraines. Interesting because many of the same things trigged my asthma. I've learned more since tracking on here and my doc agrees with what I've learned. Much of mine is chemical sensitivity, if your son is allergic to specific foods that may be a cause the common ones are any nightshade family veggies, eggs, and wheat. For me whole natural foods are not an issue except for pine nuts, it's anything with MSG, chemical nitrates such as in processed meats (deli meats, sausage, bacon, ham, corned beef) I now by chemical free ones from trusted sources. Processed foods that contain additives including coloring, red dye is the worst. When I do buy something processed ie: soy sauce, chipoltes in adobo sauce, canned tuna, canned tomatoes or beans I read the label and make sure that the ingredients are good. Most of the year my asthma is pretty controlled unless I'm around cigarette smoke or lots of artificial perfumes; of course there are a few pollen triggers and mold is a biggie, funny that blue cheese is not a problem for me. As you know I try my best to avoid processed.

Thank you for the asthma tips, Jeri. Appreciate it. That is really an eye opener how whole foods are the best way to live. I have become more healthy by choosing healthier options. Even when I go to restaurants I want to have pizza or pasta, but I choose fish with veggies and a salad. Water to drink, not soda pop. :)

Deb, it depends the person what each person's triggers are. MSG and nitrates/nitrites are quite common. I have learned a lot both tracking everything for my migaine neurologist and here about what affects me. I think it has helped even more than the 3 days of allergy testing I went through years ago.. With all the tracking I've done my doc doesn't feel we need to re-visit those tests. Allergy shots aren't at all helpful against chemicals. I just know if I eat in a restaurant or someone else's food I'll probably need some extra asthma drugs.
