wholefoodnut's Journal, 22 Mar 15

A beautiful Sunday morning here in the neighborhood, mid 70's today. Normally this time of year I would have been off and running at least an hour ago. Slow poke getting coughing manageable and have to eat to take these dang meds. Slowly creeping back to normal.

I need to get busy it's almost 10 and this beautiful day slipping away too quickly. A quick run to Sprouts for a couple things and Walmart for some compost so I can get at least some greens and cool weather seeds in.

Realized last night, I only work Monday and Tuesday this coming week. Had not thought about the difference in planning meals.... no need to haul lunch to work.

Found a photo from 2010 and uploaded it on my image. Not at my heaviest weight and at my daughter's at the lake, that's her front yard.

I planted some potatoes a few weeks ago and can't wait to get them outside. However we will not see 70 before July, lol. I am very excited about gardening for some reason this year. Like your haircut, I used to threaten to chop mine off regularly to my partner.

Nicol where are you? July really? Since you harassed me about a photo this morning I spent over an hour trying to get at least one on my profile--LOL--- Still basically the same hair cut, I need my bangs trimmed on that one..No work style.

Yep, Central Maine. 15 degrees today with hellacious winds. The nursery is supposed to ship my strawberries at the end of next week, I am a little stressed about that. My youngest peanut's birthday is the end of April and there usually is a few piles of snow left here and there. Doesn't help that I live in the woods so it's shaded.

Nice picture! Hope you are feeling better. I am moving slow this morning too. Its 56 degrees here with a cold nip in the breeze. Last week we had two warm days in the high 60s, dipped quickly to 30s. Preparing my deck pots for planting. I get so excited about changing seasons.

Excited!! found some Jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes) at Sprouts for 3.99 a pound. Those are something we never see. It's expensive to order the bulbs to grow them, was about to break down and do that this year. I used to have a big patch of them when I lived in the country. Bought 2#'s they are sprouting so will go into the space I have been reserving for them whenever I found some.

WFN - That's awsome about the (sunchokes)! I love the new picture. I am glad you posted it! I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling, as I know you and your doctor are doing everything you can. Have you ever thought about using mustard plaster, or steaming with peppermint and eucalyptus? Or putting Vic's rub on your feet then sock's and chest and neck before you go to bed? Or perhaps you already have tried all these natural home remedies. Wishing you a restful evening and good night's rest. Truly, J.J.

Jennifer, tried all those in the past, makes me feel a bit better, not a cure.... I keep eucalyptus oil on my desk at work..Doc says it's asthma related and the fact my lungs are damaged from previous pneumonias and from growing up in a cloud of cigarette smoke which makes me susceptible and harder to get rid of. FYI Second hand smoke is NOT nice to children...

Good day today, didn't get as much done as I hoped, Next door neighbor stopped in, chatted for over 2 hours!! her family company from Ill. had left and she was feeling down. Sometimes I wish my MAMA hadn't taught me to be polite and to respect those older than myself LOL!! Kept trying to hint that I had things to do,,,, didn't work. Groceries were still on the dining room table in plain view...OH well, life is good.

Well done on getting that bed planted ... even though you were distracted. She probably needed a bit of human companionship so you did a good deed!

Wow... Snows just melting so we'll begin planting very soon.

Neighbor reminds me of my Mom sometimes, I just try to think of that some days. She is a sweetie 87 years old, will take her out for lunch to a nearby BBQ place that I haven't tried nor has she, I don't eat out much. BBQ place smells so good when they have their smokers going. She was forced to close her restaurant a few years ago after she fell and broke her hip and loves going out for lunch.
