Cooking a turkey today. Corner store had fresh turkeys, they were open Thursday morning, I knew they still had a few. Stopped in on the way home yesterday to see if they had them marked down, surprised they did not. Meat guy/ butcher came out and he said he would mark one down for me. He was concerned though when I was planning on cooking it last sale date is Monday.

Put it in brine last night, will cook it today, stuffing is ready. YAHOo turkey leftovers! and a yummy dinner tonight. Experiment as I've never brined a turkey, wild birds yes but never a turkey.

Need to push myself more at the gym to get my routine back. I've been changing the order so I make it through different ones, but still not getting through the whole routine I was doing before I missed for awhile.
I did add squats with a 20 pound bar across my shoulders, new to me. 10,264 steps.

Stopped at the thrift store on the way home, friend asked me to watch for sewing machine for her daughter. I'm good at finding good ones cheap. No good machine but did get an interesting Rodale book on healing foods, and 2 oval cast iron never used lodge cast iron pans. Oval skillets. Figured I'd keep one give the other to daughter and SIL for their collection of them. Cast iron you can tell if they have been used. Will cure mine today.

Temp's today supposed to be up to 60 before a cold front tomorrow. Hopefully get my garage finished, clean out my messy car, and a few outside things. Probably now gym visit. Awake early so will get an early start on my day. Need to have things done so next weekend we can get Christmas up. Hoping grandkids won't be busy and can help, that would be fun.

WFN, You start your day early. I tend to putter around most morning's. Trimming the tree with grandkids sounds fun, makes me wish mine were closer. We got the tree up yesterday and trimmed. I am proud to read that you are mixing up your rountine at the gym. Enjoy your day.

I'm really good at lazing in the am. Propped in bed with my coffee, the computer, a book. I love Christmas trees! mine will be up into January due to the girls and grandkids doing a late Christmas at my house lately minus the oldest 2, kids are scattered with 100 miles but different directions and everyone likes to have Christmas at home. Probably just 4 of the grandkids will help.

All those steps really add up, even when you don't make it to the gym. Good job! And the turkey sounds dee-lish!

How did the turkey turn out? I had a leftover tofurky sandwich last night and it was awesome! My brother in law made vegetarian stuffing for me too. With you lived closer I'd love to go to the gym with you. You'd probably whip my butt!

I believe Lodge is the only American foundry still making cast iron cookware.

I've been tempted to try a tofu turkey. Will have to sometime soon. Turkey took longer to cook than I planned ask cooked it really slow. It turned out good. Will cut it up today and also make some stock from the carcass. Then I will freeze most of it in the stock so it stays moist. I made a grilled cheese in my new little skillet for breakfast. I didn't know Lodge was the only one, no wonder they are so much more expensive than they used to be.
