wholefoodnut's Journal, 16 Nov 14

Yesterday was a wasted day. Was still tired, tried doing things, just wanted to do nothing. Body felt like it was fighting a bug because I could not get warm even with the heat turned up, warm clothes, and blankets. Crashed on the couch with my dogs, a couple cook books, hot green tea, stupid computer games. Body must have needed that yesterday. Only 3,400 steps yesterday.

I'm warm this morning, so a good sign. Slept a good eight hours, no alarm that's just what my body wanted. Now to catch up on my world today with normal weekend chores. Only a dusting of snow but dang cold out.

Back into the routine this week. Gym everyday except maybe Wednesday with a grocery store trip. Will have to take a good look at my frig today

A day to make bread, I took a whole fryer out of the freezer, thinking of roasting it in my Dutch oven with a bunch of veggies and herbs. Have some other things in the frig I need use up or freeze especially with my odd eating patterns the past week, I bought more than I have used. Probably a good day for what my kids always called garbage soup.

That's funny...we always called soup made out of leftovers Garbage Soup too! And if we made a dinner out of various small portions of leftovers we called it "Must-go" for dinner (as in "this must go, that must go"). I hope you're able to catch up on your weekend chores in a non-stressful way.

Never did the must go. Grins.... much more energy today, though a late start. No stress just plugging away, had to stop for some breakfast/ brunch. Since it's just me, what gets done, does, what doesn't will be here tomorrow. Not expecting company.

Am beginning to understand eating just a few nuts. Bought some hazelnuts in the shell 99 cents a pound. Have been cracking and eating just a few everyday this week, just 4 yesterday was a good snack. Having to crack the whole ones makes you think about eating them mindlessly.

Trying a new method for making yogurt. My little 70's yogurt maker doesn't make much. Using a gallon of skim milk, 1 quart of plain yogurt, putting it in a heavy large casserole with a lid, putting it on top of my dehydrator.

We called the leftover night Smorgasbord night. Never did soup with leftovers except turkey and we made gravy and called it "turkey stuff" lol and had it on mashed potatoes.

Glad you finally got warm! What site do you play computer games on? I do Pogo. Yes, it is a time waster but it does keep my hands from grabbing food :) I do win tokens and it is cheap :) I did the soup thing today too. Had to clean out the fridge to decide what I need to restock. Love the crockpot soups.

Just solitaire and mahjong mostly, like I said stupid. Ended up with my roasted chicken with bunch of veggies and a creamy greens soup.

Your roasted chicken sounds great. I like doing the word games such as Boggle Bash, Word Whomp, Scrabble and others such as the card games Pinochle etc. just to mix it up. There is a chance to win money but I have only won ugly screen savers and wallpaper. My sister in Oklahoma and a few friends play on the same site. It is nice chatting with them or playing games with them.

Silly thing, but I never thought of roasting a chicken in my dutch oven. (I mean, that's what it's FOR, right?) Now with the colder weather, I'll likely roast a chicken every Sunday. I've always used a large chef's pan, which never left enough room for veggies in the same pan. THANK YOU! :D

I think this early cold (at least here... snow!?!) is putting the body into shock. That's what this could have been for you.

We also got a dusting of snow(left over from earlier in the week) but Keeper said it hit the teens last night & the hot water tank froze up. Hmmmm, don't really know what to think about that since in my opinion its a nice day for my walk!YAAAAY!!! I too will be groc shopping soon, as the fridge is getting low on veggies. I have the menu planned for all of Dec so that should stop the "going out/ordering in" that keep my "good" to intentions rather than on "doing". :) Happy to hear that you're back into your routine of things! :)I'm happy to be there too :) I'm getting better at not allowing the things of life to trip me up :))
