Been out for another walk today, circular walk Totnes to Dartington and back. The trees looking awesome in their autumn colours and lots of mushrooms and fungi growing, wish I knew which ones were safe to eat - daren't risk poisoning the pair of us though!!

Sounds glorious Maria. The advice is for fungus.. don't eat it. Well it's my advice!! I was around your part of the country last week.. but alas not out walking .. in a white van with hubby. Happy days to you

Sounds lovely! I love that walk. Definitely not advisable re the mushrooms unless you really know what you're doing ... a few years ago David's brother in law Alaric decided to get himself a book on wild mushrooms. After reading it, he decided it would be easy and went out onto Richmond Common and stupidly picked a whole load of different ones, took them home and cooked and ate them .... he was immediately very ill and the doctor said he had been very lucky that none of them had actually proved fatal. Apparently one of the ones he'd picked, had he eaten a larger quantity of it, would have killed him! He is supposed to be a highly intelligent man ... I don't think so!
