Wishing I could join the 2 mile walk for juvenile diabetes in Boca Raton on April 5. My niece's daughter Story was diagnosed last Halloween. Her team is Story's Warriors. Too far from Kansas City for me. Ordered a t-shirt and will put in a donation instead. Good cause searching for a cure.

My boys and I do fundraisers events with one of the HyVee's here in town in Columbia for JDRF a lot. I *think* all HyVee's support JDRF(all 3 here in town do), you may be able to see if there are any events in KC they are planning by asking there or emailing corporate. Even though you can't do the event with her you may have fun doing one near you for her =) Also, the HyVees in town always have the little change connector &/or paper shoes to put change in or buy to donate.

Good idea thanks, I will. Actually I've seen the little shoes at hyvee and other locations not realizing what they were for. I guess hearing about the challenge of getting 4 yo Story's under control and the continuing challenge from her mom has made me more aware of the condition.

Checked the website. Nothing yet scheduled for this year but there was one last October, maybe it's annual.

It probably depends on the area and stores. The ones the boys and I do are fundraisers inside the actual store to help them reach their fundraising goals. Hope things get easier for your niece and her mom <3
