Debbie Cousins's Journal, 08 Mar 19

Really struggling today. It sucks when you START your day with over 1/3 of your calories already gone! Bummer. I’ve been doing pretty well. Made a delicious dinner of Bourbon-Pepper Beef Tenderloin, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Corn, and Brownies for dessert – and I didn’t get ANY of it. I must confess, though, that I DID lick the spoon after I put away the mashed potatoes, and again after the gravy. True confession time: I ALSO ate ONE grape and didn’t write it in my Diet Calendar because it would have put me over on my RDI. I TRIED to be bad tonight! Yes, you read that right! I’ve had my 3-year-old grandson since 9:30am this morning, and will have him for another 36 hours or more! I’m also still taking care of my husband, and made the big dinner for us AND my son, daughter-in-law and grandson who live downstairs, PLUS cleaned up the kitchen once before and AS I was cooking, and then AGAIN afterward! SURE, you’d think I’d deserve some kind of reward, right? SO (gulp), I opened up a Blueberry Acai Diet Coke and poured it into my Tervis Tumbler. I took it into my bedroom, and when I picked it up, I don’t know what happened, but the WHOLE 12 ounces ended up on my pink bedroom carpet! Took over half a roll of paper towels to get it SEMI-cleaned up! I actually STILL want to “be bad!” I want to have something more to eat, but I’m at the top of my RDI, and I don’t want to go over. I wonder how soon I can get my grandson into bed, so that I can go to sleep and avoid the temptation!

My goodness Debbie!! Why didn't you eat??? I would have had some of all of it. Course nothing is off limits on my plan, sounds like you are doing low carb so that does limit a lot. Well not true for me-- no processed and no sugar substitutes they trigger migraines and asthma for me (they also cause lots of weight gain). Sorry about the diet pop on your carpet.

I think it is not low carb just a restrict calorie diet

NORMALLY, I have been LC/HF-Keto. But since I started the Swimsuit Slimdown, I've been concentrating more on getting in 5 Fruits and Vegetables than on keeping the carbs low, concentrating more on staying within my RDI than getting in all my Fat. I'm still getting in all my Fiber, though!

You know I love you but for heavens sake eat if you're hungry. You'll do better tomorrow. Lying to your food diary isn't going to make the potato licks and grapes not happen. Do something before you're down on your knees sucking soda out of the carpet. Go have a boiled egg!

When I have those days that I just want to eat, I simply eat. 😀 I hope you are feeling better today.

Exercise for health, cut calories for weight loss. The body metabolism slows down to try to conserve. There are research that shows increasing exercise does not significantly impact weight loss. Exercise to have a more healthy body. I’m holding my calorie intake at 1500 Cal which is 500 less than my computed Basal Metabolic Rate and averaging 1.8 lbs/wk Wt loss over 6 weeks. If that rate of loss decreases, I’ll drop my daily Cal intake to 1,450, etc. In that scenario I’m assuming my body has reduced its metabolism farther. Search for reputable info on Starvation Mode which is a misnomer it’s adaptive thermogenesis. www.healthline.com/nutrition/starvation-mode#section1 has some good information to start with.
