I’ve lost my LCHF diet mojo. I started to drill into the minutiae of percentages of Fat, Carbs and Protein. I think I more or less got that right, but then on advice tried upping my fibre intake. I was advised a man of my height and age should imbibe between 30 to 35 grams each day.

I have managed to up my fibre to about 20 grams/day and I can feel the benefit of it, but my Carb intake has almost doubled. The weight is not coming off so fast now. It is sort of hovering around the same. Unless I double the amount of veg I am eating I don’t see how I could munch 35 grams of fibre per day. To me fibre seems to equal carbs.

To top it off I have contracted my first cold of the winter. So am feeling pants at the moment. Of course I am hiding the fact it’s just a cold from Lulu Lowcarb. I told her it was a bad case of man flu. Well at least that gets me a cup of tea in bed in the morning, instead of being the first up to make it.

My LCHF regime has gone a bit wobbly, I will stick with the extra fibre at least until my cold goes, opps I mean man flu.

Yes i have noticed that high fibre foods seem to be higher in carbs. I suppose it's getting a good balance and you seem to have it. Did you know that man flu is real because men really do have a lower immune system than women. So when they get a bad cold it's like having the flu. Anyway hope you feel better soon 😷

As fibre is a carbohydrate it's hard to increase it without increasing carbs. Try measuring net carbs to keep an eye on the digestible ones as well as checking on fibre. One thing I use to help increase my fibre is ground psyllium husks that I buy from Holland and Barrett. I started with this when I was suffering badly with constipation at the start of this year and my doctor advised it. It tastes horrible and if you soak it too long it's impossible to drink but it really helps me keep "regular". Feel better soon!

I gave up on trying to up my fibre as it needs a increase in Carbs to get anywhere.

And TOO MUCH fibre CAUSES constipation!

Not for me Jocko, but you do need plenty of water to keep things moving and I do drink a lot.
