Windlepoones's Journal, 09 Nov 16

I have totally fallen off my LCHF diet, my man flu has got worse and I’m following the old adage feed a cold and starve a fever.

I must admit I don’t feel any guilt about it, especially the roast potatoes - yum. I’m just hoping to shed this cold. I am going through a box of family sized tissues a day and still can’t breathe through my nose.

If it’s this bad tomorrow I will be skipping the gym too and that will be a first.

Sorry to hear you have such a bad cold. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with comfort eating when you're feeling so rough. Hope you get better soon!

I had to laugh - it's man flu ... therefore, being flu it's not a cold ... but you're feeding it? 🤔 Sorry, just my sense of humour I guess. I hope you feel better soon (I'm just starting with a cold, right before a weekend away 😡) One thing I would say is be wary of intense exercise if you do have a virus in your system, it's not good to push yourself to "sweat it out". Take care!

Nothing worse than being full of cold or man flu! I find that dissolving a tea spoon of honey and 4 teaspoons of lemon juice in hot water and taking paracetamols works for me. Its basically a home made Lemsip but a damn sight cheaper! I agree with Phooka, don't try the gym as it will just make you feel worse. Hope you're feeling brighter soon.

You have to feed both; if you don't eat, you won't recover. Gotta love them old wives' tales! Eat, rest and stay away from overly energetic exercise - a good walk is fine but gyms are out - Phooka's right. Enjoy it, you'll be out and about soon enough.

Sorry your cold got worse, i can't really add anything that the others have already posted. Apart from "hope you feel better soon." 😊

Thank you for all your well wishes, armed with those, a few whiskeys, paracetamol and the suggested home remedies. I’m sure I will be able to kick Mr Bug into touch. I skipped the gym on Thursday. Apart from feeling so rough it wouldn’t have been fair of me to contaminate the equipment for the other users. I still managed a few walks, but spent most of my time curled up in the warm with my moggies watching a musical or two.
