Bingo! Hallelujah!! I hit my weight goal today for the first time!!!
The funny thing is that I can't get this old statement that my father used to say at mealtime every single night out of my head. He would remind me of how blessed we were to have plenty of food to eat and how as a child growing up during the "Great Depression" he could not always eat a balanced diet. When ever I went for seconds he would say, "Take all you want but eat all you take." That has stuck with me all my life. I still clean my plate but now I try not to put so much on it. Some restaurants serve such large portions my wife and I don't have any embarrassment sharing a meal. We just ask for an extra plate and maybe an extra vegetable. That way, I can still clean my plate...

We have a winner! Great job, keep doing what you are doing, don't change your eating habits because you reached your goal. It's an easy trap to fall into (I know) Time to get on the exercise, your new goal is better fitness. Once you establish the exercise habit your weight will stay in control even if you cheat once in awhile. Good for you, congrats.

Old School. I grew up in the same type home. We're lucky that we learned that small portions are all the body needs. Congrats on you reaching your goal!!!

Yep, I am from that same era with parents who were worried about food and having plenty meant success. My husband and I share meals when we go out, too. Or, I bring half of it home.

Yay! congratulations! I grew up in a family where you always had to eat all that was on your plate. If not at that meal, it would go in the fridge and you'd eat it later. But like, you, I just use a smaller plate and just put a smaller serving.

Next time I restaurant, I'm going to get a carry out box right away and put half my meal in it first thing. Restaurants are the worst!
