Grr despite dropping my calories!

I have been eating nearer 1400 than 1300 on some days , but well under the original 'slow loss' estimate of 1600. Tempted to just fast for a week (kidding).

I think it's getting harder to lose as according to all the BMI charts I'm in the normal range, right in the middle now.(BMI 21.9 ) I would rather be nearer the under weight end (not actually underweight obviously) I'd like a BMI of 19.7 ish.

I am not keen to eat 'differently' while dieting (in the sense of weird foods or products that I wouldn't eat if I wasn't dieting) so I'm stuck with making healthier choices and eating less. Both of which things suck - easy to do, they just suck :-)

I will ignore calories etc altogether when I go on holiday too, and at Christmas. I guess really I'm at an odd stage of being an OK weight but wanting something different. Tempted to reset my target (again!) to refect how well i've done, but to show a blue line. I have done what I set out to do afterall.

I think I'm feeling a bit 'meh' today. Some work stuff hasn't helped my mood either. I need a boost (not the chocolate bar! a boost to my dieting thinking!)

also 1lb in weight is 3500 calories so the extra 2 to 300 calories you have dropped may take a while to equal more weight loss. have you done your bmr? (basal metabolic rate) that say how many calories a day your body need by age and how active you are. then to lose a lb a week reduce cals by 500 a day to make 3500 cals down by end the week

apparently I have a BMR of 1339.9 (but I don't stay in bed all day - more's the pity!) so I should have 1600 calories a day to play with (based on little exercise - I have a desk job) , but I'm actually consuming about 1400 ish so that's only 200 fewer a day? curses :-) - I don't think 1100 calories a day is feasible tbh I used this site for info btw http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/

1339 is what yor body uses each day without any exercise. it usually says under what you should be having. if normal activity its 2400 to stay same so at 1600 you will lose atleast 1-2 lb a week

sadly it says 1600 to stay the same. Don't forget I'm a healthy BMI - so it's hard to lose, at 1600 (the diet I started at) I lost 1lb a week until I got down to 140lbs, now I'm not losing on that so I reduced calorie intake further

Yes, It says the same Your BMR value is: 1339 This means that your body will burn 1339 calories (5606 kilojoules) each day if you engage in no activity for the entire day. Your daily calorie requirement is 1607 calories (6728 kilojoules). These calculations are for a female of 49 years of age with the height, weight and lifestyle you specified.

With a BMI of 21.9.....you should be in really good shape and have a good figure??? Perhaps you are being overcritical with yourself and getting hung up on numbers? Maybe a good look in the mirror and a pat on the back for doing so damn well and getting to a healthy weight!

HAHAH FOODFIGHT-NOMORE you may be right, maybe it's my midlife crisis and I'm trying to be a teen again!!

Awe... don't be so hard on yourself. You are doing great! I also have a desk job and I've started taking 10-15 minutes walk breaks in the morning and afternoon instead of the usually staff coffee break. Just an idea!

Don't ignore the calories over Christmas! That's the most important time to be strong, when everyone around is stuffing their faces.....and they will be moaning in January that they have put on weight!! :-)

haha Kabella_ this diet was specifically so that I CAN ignore dieting during holidays and Christmas :-) I'll diet again in January - and maybe do dry January again
