The summer months are absolutely crucial for getting those extra pounds off - for me at least. It was the longest day of the yesterday (21st) and I know that the nights are slowing going to draw in, darker & colder day-by-day, albeit rather slowly. And I do tend to suffer from S.A.D. So landmarks like the Summer Soltice, don't fill me with joy at all, chiefly because I know the onset of winter is now coming into view, and my exercise regime will become derailed.

For the last couple of months I've been enjoying riding the treadmill & pushing weights, in the comfort of my own home. The treadmill especially, is something I really look forward too every evening when I come home from work. 3 months ago I could barely do 3mph for more than 30 minutes, but now I'm pushing 6mph over 30 minutes, or 5mph over an hour with relative ease. And as a consequence the pounds are coming off (aided with a calorie-count diet of course), and I'm spending a small forture buying new clothes to fit my slowly-shrinking frame.

But I know that when the dark nights do finally arrive, probably in early November, and the temperature starts to fall, I will find it more difficult to motivate myself hopping onto the treadmill (which is situated in my none-centrally heated conservatory), and that's when my diet regime will probably take a hit for 3 or 4 months.

I could go to the gym during those winter months of course, but a) gym membership is quite expensive for what I need, and b) it's a hassle (requiring even more motivation to do).

So for what remains of summer & autumn, I hope to maximise my diet & exercise regime; hopefully reach my target weight in that timeframe as well. And then ready myself for winter when things will probably go pear shaped again - including me!
