Adpully's Journal, 10 Oct 21

Despite being away from home for three days and having a great time with my mother, brother, son and friends that included me having two takeaways and plenty of beers I have somehow managed to prevent any weight gain. I'm now within 400g of being back to my lowest weight for 25 years I'm pretty sure that I will settle at a 75Kg for final weight. I'm happy if that takes a month or two and I need to start thinking about the time soon where the daily calorie deficit is zero!

This time I definitely do not think that I look gaunt or tired or ill like I did before, I have much less stress in my life and this time I have been doing upper body exercises as well as just running and walking (I think that has helped). Additionally my alcohol intake is a small fraction of what it was. This should be enough to not let me quickly pile the weight back on.

My belly is still shrinking and another inch has now disappeared - Now it's 35" all round my waist by my belly button. That means there is just an inch to lose to get under the healthy 2:1 waist to height ratio. This morning my body fat percentage was 24.7% down from 27.5% in July.

Today the plan is to catch up on the garden and later have a play with my new dumbells.

Have a great day.

This will probably sound weird to some - but those are beautiful dumbbells, Adpully! I like the silver bars and the plates look so smooth and uniform. I'm quite happy with the set I recently bought - for the price I paid, but it looks like the quality of your is far superior. Enjoy your lifting! 💪👏👍

Thanks - It was a toss up between these the Decathlon Domyos 2 x 10kg set or the Argos Opti cast Iron 2 x 10kg set. What decided it was that I could buy some bargain swimming trunks, running shoes, walking trousers and a tee shirt at the same time in Decathlon. So the extra £4 they cost over the argos ones was all offset. There is a Decathlon in Oxford and it was a very short detour whilst I was away. Now I have them and measured them I find that the Domyos ones have a larger spindle size and a non standard hole size so that any additional weight plates would need to be Domyos 28mm ones and not universal 25mm that is common to York, Everlast and Opti cast etc. All of the budget sets around look very fit for purpose. I did a small modification to mine yesterday and cut 25mm off each end of the shafts with a grinder to save me a bit of space and reduce assembly time a little.

That sounds great, Adpully! Besides the difference in size I'm sure these will stand you in good stead for years to come and hopefully any new plates won't be too difficult to get hold of. Great that you could adjust the length to suit you as well! Thankfully mine are not too long. Hope you have a good week!

The dumbell comments are way above my head, joke lol. Ad just realised you have a look of Sean Connery about you.. woo hoo!

Gilly - Ha on both. I was going for a balding George Clooney but Sean Connery is also acceptable.
