Fit Shaming is Real... WHY WE LOVE IT.

In today's world, you can be shamed for literally anything.  Hell, I'm sure someone out there has been shamed for tying their damn shoe.  Anyways the same applies for anyone who is fit, looks fit, is trying to get fit, was once fit, will one day be fit, thinks about fitness, eats something fit people would eat or is friends with someone considered fit.

What does fit shaming consist of?  Would you be shocked if I would say I've been called: too skinny, to lean, to muscular, too healthy, obsessed, sick and the list goes on.  I've heard just as many other people from the fitness world catch just as much wrath for wanting to be a better athlete, living a fit lifestyle.  So, here's the deal...since when did it become okay to put down the people who actually are eating the foods your body needs?  The people who are being physically active so that their bodies and minds can reap the benefits.  Not to mention, the confidence people get after even just a short sweat session is completely worth it.  It is not okay, and in our opinion, never will be.  This is why we went ahead and changed our mindset on the subject and now we love to be fit shamed!

You heard that right, we LOVE it!  You're probably asking yourself "why in the hell would these crazy people enjoy it?"  Well you see, if someone is that bothered by the fitness industry and fitness people in general they are probably jealous or maybe just have never had the amazing opportunity to feel great about themselves after putting in the time and effort to eat healthy and be physically active.  When you look at it, could be their fault, could not...but there is nothing we can do about it other than change our stance.  WE LOVE IT BECAUSE THAT MEANS SOMEONE(S) HAS NOTICED THAT WE ARE FIT AND PARTAKE IN THE FITNESS WORLD!   When you really break it down fit shamers are connecting us with the fitness world, they relate you to fitness!  How awesome is that.  That means we look fit enough, eat nutritious enough, or in general represent fitness in a way that people notice!  That is something to be extremely proud of.

So the next time you find yourself either being fit shamed or faced with a fear of being fit shamed realize that you are the real winner!  YOU ARE WINNING!  So take it down to that sports bra and shorts, show off the hard work and dedication that you so rightfully earned.  KEEP IT UP!

Can we say the word jealousy ? Being lean involves lots of discipline and consistency.

Jealousy is a good indication that you're doing well. People are easily envious, offended and intimidated. Really enjoyed this post x

Mindy, whatever you do, do it for yourself not for the others.. people are never happy and project their insecurities by shaming others... do your think. f*** the others because no matter what you do, the only thing that must count is how you feel, not the others. Keep on going and enjoy the ride of fitness 💪💪

is it just me or do people seem more mean now. maybe it's the popularity of social media. my wife facebooks constantly and shares sometimes what the next shaming trend is. ugh. had a guy picking on my chicken legs last month at work. then he stops and says but 2 of my legs are yours. lol yeah and I can run up the stairs to your office and not break a sweat by the top. 😁😁 great idea of reversing our response. that's something I'm learning is how to respond not react to others. no one makes me do anything. I choose to or not to.

Hebrews and you killed them with that response 😉🤭

Yes, I was feeling bad/sad yesterday because, I was borderline being bullied into eating some not very tempting/appetising dessert at work (they bring cake EVERYDAY to share at work) I use to part take in the gorging fest in the past, but I've been very good since July 1st, to the point that I'm not craving comfort food anymore. Anyways, I felt disrespected and did not know how to respond without offending anybody; in all honesty I felt like saying "no thanks, I don't want to end up like you" or " no thanks, look at the bright side, more for you, I know you want it" but I just did not want to be that kind of person so I just kept saying "No thanks" to the same question and kept silent afterwards, it was very awkward and left work feeling a bit deflated for having to defend my food choices, then I read the above post and felt a bit better and understood why people felt attacked, the reality is, my new found health routine has nothing to do with them but they took it personally. I guess the main thing is to remain steadfast, they did not come anywhere near convincing me to eat the shitty cake, nevertheless it was very unpleasant having to repeat myself so many times...

Of all the things ppl attack others for I would never have thought it would be being fit! How can you attack someone for looking good, eating good, staying healthy and taking pride in ones self? Then again some ppl are just so horrible they try and bring anyone and everyone down.

I get comments on my food at work by one particular colleague, shaming me by saying "well that looks HEALTHY" in a condescending tone. She even clapped me and said "Look at you!" after I finished a meal at lunch time. Like... My food choices have nothing to do with you! you're just projecting your insecurity and shame you carry for your own disordered eating patterns and fad diet culture you engage in. If I eat consistently good meals and you're affronted by that then maybe question why you feel the need to feel that way about my food. You are very welcome to join me in the same eating habits but sure, keto then fasting works for you so well you need to shame everyone else's choices despite nobody ever treating you in that way about yours 🙃
