where to begin.....I've always been thin since I was a child taking for granted my shape whatever I did, drink or eat however in my 30s I started to gain weight for different reasons: change in metabolism, giving birth to my children, leaving in southern Italy for some years I did not have any portion's or quantities' control and to much extra virgin olive oil.
I've always had an healthy and varied diet (lots of seasonal and fresh products always available) but
it's my first time now at beginning of my 40s to be under weight control and I have to thank FS community and people here for your tips, examples, inspiration and just chatting about our common goals and achievements
I love food, I'm curious about food worldwide, it's one of the way I have to understand a place's culture!
To finish this dissertation 😅 I just want to feel better again mentally an physically, just want to be "me' again!
👋💪👋 ciao

After reading that personally I think you have your life pretty much spot on and have eaten all the right things good produce and good fats stick with that healthy way of living but smaller portions keeping within your calories and you have a well balanced diet people tend to think they should live on a protein bar for a meal and a egg cup full of food if people want to lose weight it’s simple calorie control and more exercise so thanks for sharing and well done 👍

Thanks Paul for your support, I completely agree with you! In my case I tend not to stick to any particular diet because I'm too curious and I want to eat and try everything.....greedy person 🤭 but I understand everybody is different and has his own priority! Portion control is key now for me and more exercise 🏃‍♀️to be fit compared with when I was younger!!

wow. this is exactly me! (except the living in Italy bit!). was always slim, totally took it for granted. kids, life in my 30's, losing my mum etc. all made the weight creep up. you can do this though. I started about 3 months ago and I've lost 1 and a half stone. I feel so much better. my tips. find a friend to go brisk walking with. do 10k two or 3 times a week... chat and pace as fast as you can. use the app religiously, especially to start with... it will enlighten you and make you realise what you've slowly become to accept as eating is not healthy. make it realistic... so it's sustainable. I have a frothy soya hot chocolate and a freddo or small chocolate portion in the evening all within my calories... bliss. good luck. you won't regret it.

it's as simple as a numbers game but we all forget that! calories in calories out. have the right amount of numbers and burn the ones you have and you'll be right. it's also in my opinion readiness to make the change. there's no magic diet that works, they all work if you want them to and if your mind is made up to go for it. I am doing most things the same just like you said, I'm cutting portion sizes and I'm having less unhealthy snacks and salad dressings. I've always cooked from scratch and feed the kids like they are at a health spa but then the evening comes and my bad habits would creep in. now I'm just limiting my habits and because the results have been so good (feeling better, less aching, clear blood tests, faster running, looking better) I can keep that in mind to spur me on 🥳

Thanks for your messages Beacrea I think we are in the same boat 🚤 😉 and as you said there is no magic behind it, the willing to do it and to change for good is the most important part!! I've started in May and I've list 9 kg almost at my goal....next step woul be to maintain and keep exercising!! I wish you all the best too....finger crossed 🤞

I agree with Paul 😊 your diet sounds (and looks) fantastic imo and I understand what you mean about wanting to try everything 😅 especially when travelling! You’re doing really well, well done xx
