Anne_145's Journal, 10 Feb 16

You see yesterday, 2765 calories? I just ate what I felt like eating. I wouldn't say that I binged or ate too much. That felt like a normal amount of food to me. I felt full, not bloated. But if I kept eating/drinking that much I would put on weight quickly. It just isn't fair!

That's the same for me! Could the answer be a couple of days being super careful and more relaxed on others?

Could be worth a try. At the moment I try to be good every day which is a drag. What calorie amounts do you aim for?

You have to also consider how many calories you burn each day, i.e. BMR + exercise. The more active you are, the more you can eat. My maintenance level would be around 1700-1800 cals per day, but a lot of people can lose weight eating that!

I think my maintenance is about the same. To me, as an active and fit 50 year old woman that seems low. But that is the reality. I think age has a huge effect on metabolism. It slows down so much. I also think that when you keep fit long term the body becomes efficient and needs less calories.

Instead of looking at daily calorie intake, look at your weekly calorie intake, so if you are good on a couple of days you can go over on another. I also believe that the metabolism gets used to a certain calorie intake and varying your intake with the odd "blow out" actually helps to lose weight.

I also agree with Claire (eclipsesolaire). Some days more, some days less, balance it out over a week. Gives you more flexibility and allows for some eating 'just for fun' sometimes! Also, if you're on holiday or whatever, allow some extra, and make up for it when you get back. Ideally, probably lose a couple of pounds before you go away to get ahead of the game!

That is a great idea! Thanks guys. I never thought of doing a weekly total as opposed to daily. I will try that starting next week. You have succeeded in re-motivating me! That is what fatsecret is all about.
