Well, well, well.....

I got my blood lipids profile back today.
In UK measurements mmol/litre

Fasting Triglycerides = 0.9 (2 or less is favourable)
HDL = 1.7 (1.4 or more is favourable)
Ratio 4.6 (as low as possible preferable, less than 5 is best)

(mg/dl measure HDL = 65.62, Trig's = 79.74)

So that's all fabulous, isn't it?

Not at all good according to the hospital cardiac department, all they saw was that my total cholesterol had risen dramatically from 5.5 to 7.9. The nurse was very perplexed when I asked her to give me the breakdown, as shown above. It made no sense to her at all once she looked at the individual figures. Makes good sense to me, and I said I would be interested to see the proper breakdown of the non HDL component of the total cholesterol figure. She went from a position of 'urgently referring me to a cholesterol specialist', to saying if I wanted to talk to a specialist she could refer me (rofl).

Of course I did even more reading and watched a lecture by Ken Sikaris. Not come across the name before but according to his analysis my figures are brilliant, so I'm happy. I have to hope that the LCHF perspective holds out in the end as I believe it will......

As always, the devil is in the detail.

Thanks both, seems to be pretty good from what I can gather.... How are you doing Rhontique? On track? I hope to get back on track with the weight loss too as stress levels normalise, so I'll be hopefully joining you in the proper 60s brigade again Heidi!
