cindylynnwho's Journal, 15 Sep 22

I did not track eating the past few days. I was a bit overwhelmed due to time of the month and stress at work. My eating was not terrible though. Anyway I’ve started tracking again today. In my younger years I always was told I look much younger than I am. I was told I would appreciate that trait more when I was older. But now that I am getting older, I feel like I’m starting to look older than I am instead of the other way around. Can we start a sister site, Agesecret? Hahaha cause I need y’all’s secrets 😉sorry I guess I’m just grumpy about the mirror today. I know that age and wisdom are beautiful or handsome and I find that to be so in other people but I am having a hard time applying that to myself. Have not checked the scale but will soon. I am sure I am still close to my maintenance weight.

The Ordinary’s Retinol and daily Cruelty Free brand of SPF like MyChelle or ELf are cheap East skincare options to help our skin as time marches on

Thank you Emma! I already use ELF because of the cruelty free but will check the other things out. I definitely need to use more sunscreen

The Ordinary is also cruelty free and has a huge line of affordable skincare. It can almost be overwhelming but if you read up on retinol and start with a low % (night time only) it’s pretty user friendly. Vitamin C (day) is also quite popular for brightening and uneven pigmentation.

I like to use a mix of chamomile turmeric tea, grounded oats and honey. Leave it for 15 min. Apply coconut oil as moisturizer. You will love it 🍵🍯💛🧡

I use a lot of products, but find retinol in the evening and vitamin C in the morning, coupled with niacinamide, keeps skin glowy. Anytime I'm home in the morning, I do a soothing mask for face and eyes. That's for the topical care. The rest is internal: yoga & Pilates, eat food with high nutrients (fresh fruit & veggies, daily), and NO Added Sugar. It's a tough one to give up, but garbage carbs affect our skin, our moods, our patience, and our sleep.

I just look at your running picture from yesterday. You are look fantastic & young to me. We are always more criticize ourselves harsher. No age secrets.

Oh Cindy. You need more sleep, that’s all. I don’t do much skin care other than basic moisturizing. Hair gives away our real age anyway. You look great, we look great, but the world starts treating us harshly as we age, no matter how we look. I want us to face aging bravely and superbly. I’d say let’s buck up and be comfortable with the way we are, and continue to choose what makes us feel alive, powerful and free.

Thanks JB! I haven’t tried C or niacinamide topically but am interested. I do try to eat healthy and do regular yoga. The reduced sugar is a good idea. I also want to do more masks

Thank you meonadiet you are so sweet. You’re right, there are plenty of people (most importantly my fiancé) who think I’m beautiful yet I waste energy staring up close in the mirror at my wrinkles. Maybe it’s cause I do most of my work on zoom and I hate that i can now see my wrinkles on there especially when virtually all my clients are younger than me. But I have to stop obsessing, if not for myself then out of respect for other people who are aging (one example is my fiancé, who is 14 years older than me. He isn’t bothered by my wrinkle obsession because he knows I don’t also think negatively about his wrinkles but still).

Thank yfritz you are very wise. My hair doesn’t reveal my age yet but probably one day. At least my moms gray hair is beautiful so the outlook isn’t terrible. I will try to listen to your wisdom and age gracefully, live freely, love myself, and stop whining about my little wrinkles so much.

I realized I seem to have had an allergic reaction to the cooling towel I used while running yesterday which dried my skin out and is part of why the mirror scared me this morning. I guess I didn’t rinse it enough and should probably run the rest of them through the washing machine.
