I don't have experience, Chesty. But I have heard it is very difficult to qualify for it. It can be very stressful dealing with elderly and unwell/frail parents. You must try and look after yourself.

Hi Chestnut, the general process is that the Checklist is completed to see if the person meets the need to have a further assessment.
If meets the criteria a DST is completed with the family and person.
The person has to consent for the person for their information to be shared.
Here’s some guidance. To qualify : The person has to have a primary health need to qualify for fully funded care:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/money-work-and-benefits/nhs-continuing-healthcare/
There is loads of guidance on line and support to aid you to advocate. They usually send your loved one the outcome and if your not happy you can challenge it. No need to stress as they have an appeal process. Hope that helps. X

Thank you everyone for your advice I have made enquiries via the Internet and specialist companies who specialise in this field and they have sent me masses of paperwork to read through. It seems it up to the NHS to start the process unfortunately they seem to be slow in starting the process and is very frustrating.
