Nikina70's Journal, 27 Jul 21

Unofficial weight on Monday morning was 69.6kg, which means I behaved myself over the weekend. Still had pizza, wine, ice-cream and even chocolate cake - and enjoyed it all! Average daily calories for last week was 1802 so that is progress. At the moment I don't see myself lowering it very easily so I'll hang around here as long as I can still see a loss each week and then adjust.

Hubby did try to tempt me with an ice-cream wafer sandwich last night - and then peanuts and chips as well, but I resisted them all. I wasn't even hungry (and I don't think he was either) so I just had some red grapes with black coffee while watching Netflix. I am determined not to nag him about eating healthier, but I hope he will follow suit eventually. At least he had a banana this morning - progress! He usually asks me if I want to share one, which I find completely ridiculous - like eating a whole banana will kill him!

I've seen someone on FS say that they tried eating 1800 calories a day and didn't lose and they were around 100kg. I find that really hard to believe - they're either not tracking accurately or haven't given themselves enough time (doing it consistently for at least a couple of weeks) to see the results. I also don't feel like calling someone out if I think they're lying to themselves about what they're really consuming. And it still boggles my mind that some folks use this app and don't use the food diary. I can understand if they've reached maintenance and no longer need it, but it's just the easiest tool for beginners to see results - if they'd just embrace it. Such a waste of time and energy to be doing half-hearted tracking... but that's my little rant over.

This morning I did:
Caroline Girvan - 30 Min DEFINED ABS WORKOUT at Home | No Equipment | No Repeat

This was after a 40 minute walk with hubby - we go for a walk every morning these days (weather dependent) and it's usually up to an hour so that's great. Meant to rain this week so will see if we can still fit in at least one hour long walk a day. I'll still try to get in two more YouTube workouts as well.

This week I baked a kilogram of sweet potato for my lunches. There were 6 good sized ones so I could actually have 1.5 a day, but just having one a day for now. Was delicious yesterday with broccoli, tomato, humus and sweet chilli sauce - a bit weird, but very tasty. There's a ripe avo in the kitchen so today's version is going to be delicious, but not pretty, so won't post it. Might make some more effort to make it pretty tomorrow.

Anyhoo, not sure who's read this far - waffled on a bit today. These journals are as always just a way for me to keep track and to look back on in future. But, if you've read this far - have a great Tuesday!

*waves* I am in the south west of England :) Not too far away from Salisbury, in a little village. Think my saving grace are my daily walks, Dogs need out twice a day, no matter the weather. Glad I have plenty of waterproofs. And I use my break @ work for another walk. Can't do much else in regards with exercise as I am still waiting for an MRI on my knees. Well I could but between the dogs, the garden and a huge allotment and work there is not much time left in my day. And I do like to pause occasionally and just sit back, relax and enjoy.

Hi schmetterlinge34 - waving back at you! Your little village sounds very cool. We are quite happy that Derby doesn't really feel like a big city to us, but we love the feel of smaller villages too. There are many just a short drive away and then there's the peak district too to explore in time, which we're really looking forward to. I've started to buy some rain-proof gear, but so far only have a brollie and jacket. I made the newbie mistake of getting hiking boots at my usual size so now need to get a pair one size larger. Will also get some proper hiking socks, me thinks. The dogs, garden and allotment sound ideal - and I'm glad to hear you find time for sitting back and relaxing as well - sounds like a good balance!

Thanks so much, Petra! I love reading your posts too! I hope you're right that he will start to make some healthier choices - even just little ones. He is already drinking more water every day when I used to have to plonk a glass down in front of him periodically before. I am humbled by your support - thank you! I will keep going - as I know you will too! We got this!!! xxx

I, too, have a hard problem with people who I know are full of it when they claim to have only eaten a small amount- It kills me. You are not 230 pounds- eating 1600 (or sometimes they will even say less) diet and not losing- but I bite my tongue.

I dont drink tea or coffee, I do drink cappuccino tho, I have cut down on them, unfortunately my daughter lives in the country a lovely little village, we're as I live in town 1& a half hours away so I don't get to see them as often as I would like, but even with the distance between us we are very close, we keep in touch a lot on facetime & tx,n, its been very difficult with lockdown as we were not allowed to travel, but with restrictions lifted I spent last week with them wich was great,, I have stopped buying treats & biscuits but now & again I go weak & get me a treat, I do like the idea of chocolate sprinked in a yougurt tho, maybe I will try that in the evenings instead of cake,,,I am very partial to cake!! But it must stop, no point me moaning if I don't try harder,, thank you for your advice its most helpful, 🤗
