Draglist's Journal, 26 Mar 14

OK, file this in the 'you gotta be kidding me' files. I worked out on the treadmill last night and awoke to a 211.2 weigh in. Went to work and walked two miles to and fro. Ate an apple and a 240 calorie breakfast bowl and took appropriate bathroom breaks. I get home feeling mighty hungry and step on the scale for my payoff... 212.0 pounds! What the hell?

I'm used to slow weight loss and plateaus, but this is the first time in quite a while that I have been completely thrown for a loop! I have been eating very low calories lately and I'm pretty cold, so I'm right on the razor's edge. But I can't see how I added .8 lbs today.

Ate a few chicken breasts and some green beans for dinner to fuel some weight lifting. Working from home tomorrow so will do a post 16:8 treadmill workout. That should result in a new low. (If not, I'll eat my hat!)

Here are the 3/26/14 Tanita Numbers (before dinner):

water retention? And as I understand it, the point of working out isn't necessarily JUST the calorie deficit it creates...the point is to build muscle which in turn takes more energy to maintain, thus creating the losses we like to see. And if you're not drinking at least half as many ounces as your body weight in water each day (and getting appropriate sodium in your diet) your body will actually retain fluid.

It happens, Bill. I was up to 181 in the evening three nights ago. Now I'm at 171.

Who knows sometimes how our bodies react to different stimuli. Keep your head high (I know you will) and this blip will disappear faster than you might think. I KNOW you have this aced, so no worries. Have a great day tomorrow. Cheers.

Question Bill................Just how many calories in your hat? For interests sake, my PT I used to work with who I had a lot of respect for, would only weigh me BEFORE any kid of exercise - even walking, because he says if you weighed yourself before and after a workout you would be heavier, its only after and during resting you lose it. Maybe there is something to that?

Yep, for example: have you ever noticed after walking awhile that your fingers swell up? It's just water... on your weigh in days I suggest to do it right after you wake up/before breakfast. I bet that at next weeks weigh in ( if your weighing in weekly ) you will be pleasantly suprised!!! :)

Hi Draglist, tell me about your Tanita numbers. I just googled it cause it looks interesting. It's a scale that gives you all this info? Pros/cons in purchasing? Thanks for any info!

Next loss will be huge! I can feel it! I feel your pain as well. Plateaus suck big time! Also gaining after a perceived "good" few days is frustrating as well. I know you will not let this bring you down. Push through it as you've done in the past. You inspire All of US!
