My only tip is to not deny yourself the treat foods.. Pizza, burgers, Choccy etc. I found denying myself made me miserable then I'd cave and give up with the dieting. Just remember moderation of these things.
Also sometimes a small meal can be less calories and more filling than a snack (ie soup over the chocolates/pork pies)
Good luck. You will get to your goal, quitting smoking shows me that you have got this challenge in the bag!

I found stopping smoking so much easier than losing weight! Same with coming off huge amounts of opioids (I was seriously ill).
The thing with cigarettes and drugs is, you can just stop them, never buy them again, avoid them. But we HAVE to eat, HAVE to buy food, there's no avoiding it.
Just take one day at a time, bad days happen, just start again the next day.

Small gradual changes that build new habits is my recommendation.

Allen Carr easy way to stop smoking will change your life. A life long smoker - keep smoking while you read - and see what happens. I skipped the health chapter on how bad smoking is. We all know right? On diet, you don’t have to give anything up. Just count, count, count - although you don’t have to give anything up you will soon choose fruit over chocolate because of the amount of comparative food. If you want a glass or two of wine - just plan it in. Some weeks you go up and some weeks you go down. Some months you go up and some months you go down. I did exercise as well, but makes dieting harder as you need more food, and the cravings are harder. But. I am fit as well now

Thank you everyone for the support, my app didn't say I had anycomment past the first two so I feel rather rude not replying and I am sorry. I agree with you lasagna, that food is everywhere so it is harder to pick the right stuff but hopefully in time my body will tell me what to swap with certain foods. I'm getting the hang of snacking on fruit instead of chocolate but there's a lot of Christmas food left. Thank you again everyone
