No sooner do I recover from my bout with muscle weakness from the statin I was on for 3 years but now I am told that I have osteoporosis. I felt gloomy wondering how I would eat well and still lose a few pounds gained recently.
Hurray, a menu that I can live with on my diet calendar that I worked out today. It includes 3 fruits, 3 veggies, and beans which should be eaten 3 times a week, reflected with half a serving each day instead. Meets fish requirements too.
Osteoporosis requires me to take Vitamin D to help absorb the calcium to regain some bone and keep further deterioration slowed down. 1200 milligrams of calcium is my goal with 2 cups of milk , half cup of yogurt and half cut of cottage cheese. 900 mgs. already plus another 200 from an ounce of cheddar which I could make a quiche, top eggs or use in other ways. 12 Almonds are another 60 mg and 39 mg for 1 cup raw mustard greens.....at 1200 plus whatever little bits from the other foods and some cabbage as a bonus. I just worry that too much Vitamin K from the greens is too much with both. Note that dried crushed boiled eggshells is better absorbed than a supplement should I decide to ever "top up" on a short day.

What goes up, must come down. We can only do our best and hope. Let's hope it continues down and is not just water loss. Trying to be mindful and active if not yet back into the exercising. Glad to be back at FS and feeling more accountable.

Losing 2.7 kg a Week

So I am back after gaining 7-9 lbs. over the last few months. While I did manage to maintain my weight for most of this time, inactivity due to muscle weakness and pain held me back from doing the usual walking and exercise for the past 3 months.
While I want to encourage FS friends, I would also like to give warning to someone else who may be plagued with this muscle weakness. In my research I learned that certain medications and particularly STATINS can be the cause. I stopped taking ROSUVASTATIN, a cholesterol pill and my doctor has prescribed something else. What a difference overnight, and for the past 2 weeks. Being deficient in magnesium can also cause this, but not in my case.
I hope that putting this out there might help someone else, experiencing this now or in the future.

Gaining 0.1 kg a Week

A breakthrough! I was getting depressed watching the scale not moving, or yet worse, moving in the wrong direction.
I did not weight myself every day as usual, so I hope the number is real. Anyways, it makes me very happy for a day! I stopped filling in the calendar, ate when hungry, but sensibly of course. Even walking has been a hit and miss. Maybe stress and sleep play a big part?
