A difficult week, due to the heat, but I managed to stay on track with the challenge, apart from not managing yoga every day as it was just too hot in my studio/garage! However I did make up for it by upping my treadmill programme and put in an hours yoga early Saturday morning (6.am) before the day heated up.

Today was my annual Diabetes check up, interesting as I was masked up...felt like I was going to hold up the bank lols
Everything seems on track, last check up (October 2019) cholesterol was up a bit on previous one and also Hb1Ac was slightly higher than previous but looking back in my diary we had had quite a social week at work before and I had held a Macmillan Coffee Morning, plus added on to this I had not had any breakfast as it was such an early appointment, so I shall reserve judgement and see what this check up reveals. I am hoping it may be much better as we are no longer working and I think the diet is better..... fewer treats (though I have always been careful) Only time will tell - as they say.

Oh well onwards and upwards :)

Despite the car having problems and so we have been unable to actually go far it has been a good week. Our usual Sunday walk round the woods was affected by lack of transport so we walked "around the block" a circular route round our local country lanes proved to be very beneficial. Apart from the extra mileage (3.25 miles) we had the added pleasure of seeing a deer cross the road in front of us, and watched quite a bit of water fowl activity on a local dyke with at least 5 grey herons flying around. I also found 3 walnut trees, several cherry trees and a damson tree, so a good area for foraging through out the year too.

Most of the week has been spent in the garden tending our produce and we are now bringing in tomatoes, broccoli, beetroot, potatoes, peas, blackberries, raspberries and courgettes on an almost daily basis, with the cucumber, peppers, carrots, leeks and beans not far behind. The freezer is filling up nicely :)

A busy, but satisfying week. All targets met. Having my aged Mum now at home with us is a challenge in itself, but having my different interests of needlework, yoga, and time in the garden helps me recharge my batteries.
As far as diet is concerned I have been on this particular journey for 7 years now, but after the initial shock of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I got down to researching the condition as much as I could and within 6 months had reversed it to pre diabetic, losing 2 stone in the process. So far I have managed to keep it there, with my HbA1c being now around the 42 mark (down from 76 when I was diagnosed). But I have a target I would like to reach of 34 as I was told at my last check up if I can get there and maintain it for 2 years I will be undiagnosed.
Next check up in August....watch this space :)
