Well that was an interesting experiment. I enjoyed the whole more-than-one course thing, and eating slowly and savoring my food and eating from my small china dish. In the end though I didn't eat drastically less than I often do and I think I may need to eat another small snack before I go to bed. Well if this doesn't work over 3 weeks or so then I'll know that the amount I am eating is already fine. my calorie deficit has been on average 900 cals which should be good for losing 2 lbs a week-- but I have not been losing that fast and I have not lost this week at all. And I was told that the whole 3500 cals per pound really varies so maybe its different for me. And I know biochemistry is complicated. Plus I do remember when I used to eat less and am wondering if I can get there again. Meanwhile I think I am restoring my positive relationship with food instead of seeing it as a necessary evil that makes me fat and gets in the way of me doing other things. And that's good in and of itself. Of course if I ultimately keep eating the same amount, I hope something else can get my graph moving soon.

I'm still working on that part. :) Before when I cut out those three foods I also cut out all possible relatives, i.e. kamut, spelt, etc. I actually don't suspect I'm allergic to those things and I've just decided to focus on those instead of the wheat. Dairy I don't eat too much of and am eating all goat cheese instead of regular because I also don't suspect it. And the soy, well, I think with these three foods in general and with soy in particular, its not so much that I am allergic but that sometimes I eat ridiculous amounts of them and get a temporary reaction. I've already cut way down on all three, but I doubt I would completely rule out eating all of them ever unless I get more evidence to do so. And that may well happen if I continue to not eat them for a while and then I eat one of them again. Oh, I thought you meant re: allergies, but maybe you meant in general. I'm trying. I'm still finding out which foods love me. :) But thanks for the reminder. :)

I was just agreeing with your new relationship with food. Not all food is bad. :) Celebrate the good stuff. It was like a revelation to me when I heard that you should list all the foods you CAN have instead of the foods you shouldn't. It makes for a happier list.

oh, I'm sorry, Sara. The only time I've heard that phrase used was in reference to allergies, so since we'd been talking about that, that's why I thought that's what you were talking about. But its a wonderful phrase for overall use! And that's a good idea about listing foods you can have. :) Yay for tasty, healthy food!
