I decided that logistically its not going to work out for me to try to make myself eat earlier in the day and to try to get myself to eat less at the same time. So I'm going to put my emphasis on the former for now and when I've got that down (very soon I hope!) I can experiment more with the latter. To the extent that I can do both, that would be great, but because I'm in the habit of eating much of my food at night, eating earlier in the day involves me forcing myself to eat when I'm not quite as hungry, thus the conflict.

All this savoring is helping me realizing some things. Basically, that I am bored. I eat the same old crap day after day. I went to the store today and bought lots of different things. Delicious, new things. I think this year I'm going to try to be less boring in general. I'm making myself travel. So its only natural that my diet should follow suit. Specifically I decided that I eat too much lettuce. Yuck, lettuce. Savoring 2 c takes an hour and a half, it is not so delicious, and all that chewing only earns me 18 calories of nourishment. Lettuce is not my friend right now. But I'm sure we'll be friends again at some point.

It is taking a lot of effort to make the time to savor my food and then to actually savor it. But I can do it. When I was skinnier I was more into cooking different, delicious things. Part of my weight gain happened when I was living with this roommate with whom I had a disagreement over kitchen space. I remember thinking that the weight I was gaining had to do with my misery over my feeling that I couldn't cook, and had to resort to frozen dinners. Not the dinners themselves, but the misery. They were organic and natural and blah blah blah, but still. Reading about all this french stuff and thinking about all the same old stuff I eat day in and day out, it suddenly seems yucky. Actually its not really the reading about the french food that makes my present diet seem yucky. Its the savoring. Some of it is savorable, and other types not so much.

I keep going back and forth on this allergy thing. I think I'm allergic to soy, then I'm not, then I am... I need to find a health practictioner who can tell me with more veracity. I resolve to pick up a natural awakenings magazine and look in there. Its a first step.

I just weighed myself. I am not going to weigh in because its night and I'm still digesting and such. (Usually I weigh first thing in the morning). According to the scale, I gained weight. BUT also according to the scale, my bfp went down 3 percentage points! That is a lot and if it holds up in the morning I will be very pleased. Muscles, baby! I have really been shaking my tailfeather (dancing :) a lot lately. Plus strength training and other stuff. I will be surprised if my bfp has not gone down. But waiting til morning for verification...

I really enjoy your writing. :) I give you permission not to savor lettuce. There are some things that we eat not because they taste particularly good, but they are good for us. Lettuce is one of those things you can pile a whole lot of tasty stuff on, but in the end, its still just lettuce. I had some bad roommate experiences too. So, I can relate.

Thanks, Sara! :) I really enjoy writing things. That's nice that someone can get something out of my blathering on about my weight issues, lol. Thanks for relating to my roommate experiences and my lack of enjoyment of lettuce, and for your permission not to enjoy it. :) Thanks for your comments, too, Zhanice. You are too funny, saying that you are not a cow! I'm sure I would not have assumed that! :) But you have your computer in a restaurant? Is that like an internet cafe thing or your laptop or... I'm not trying to be nosy, just trying to visualize my fatsecret buddies. I never have my computer in a restaurant. I'm no chef, either, but I can (sometimes) cook things exactly the way I like them, so you're right, I think cooking will help the savoring a lot. Thanks for relating. :)

oops. Zhanice, I replied to your comment in the above note but it looks like I didn't because the website didn't keep it in paragraphs like I had it.
