debbra's Journal, 06 May 17

May 6, 1967 - May 6, 2017. I am FIFTY years old today. I am 50. FIFTY, 50, fifty... That's roughly 18,250 days, 438,000 hours, you get the idea. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the number. It makes me think too much about the END. 'Cause I don't want it to end. I like it here. Oh, man, what the heck is happening to me? I'm reaching out to the Fatsecret community, something I haven't done in a couple of years, because I'm hoping to gain some perspective. I know I should be grateful that I've reached half a century. And I am. But I can't help having depressed thoughts. Is this normal?

Regardless, I am DETERMINED not to repeat my mistakes. It's now or never. I'm at the age when bad things can happen to you physically when you are too heavy. I want to lose this f'n blubber -- yellow, clumpy, pussy looking, corpulent mass! I'm sick and tired of it. I MUST fight the addiction NOW! I am screaming from the rooftops! Go away, ugly, extra flesh and leave me be! Leave me alone so I can walk without pain in my feet and lower back.

Ugh! I need help. :(

Ok then... baby steps debbra!! Nutrition first then gradually strength training. Lots of water!! Planks Planks Planks for the belly. Good luck, you have plenty of time, day by day or in some cases second by second! Personally, I've stopped the binges with 25 hr water fasts. Right now I'm eating under a thousand cals one meal a day then as last year, I'll increase and add in my workouts. We r all different as you know and once you find your groove you'll lose the fat and tone your muscles. It's not easy as u know so Fs community can surely help along the way. I love this whole site :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hey .. instead of thinking about the END .. maybe you should think about how GREAT it's going to feel when you can comfortably do the things you want to do in the MIDDLE .. cause it really is the middle. Heck, I just applied for Medicare and it's still the middle!! You know what's really weird? Since I've been using FS to plan my meals and have been eating lots of fresh veggies and nice healthy proteins .. and I've cut out the things I used to devour and thought I would miss .. I don't really miss them all that much. Pizza doesn't sound appetizing .. or chips .. or large hunks of cheese .. or big submarine sandwiches with processed meats and mayo .. or anything dripping in grease or deep fried .. or bowls of nuts (OK .. maybe bowls of nuts still sound appetizing . lol). The cravings have kinda gone very quiet. And whereas I used to not like to walk very much, now I can hardly let a day go by without putting on my headphones and walking .. I really look forward to that hour or so almost every day. Have confidence ... you CAN do it!! And think about how great it will feel!! It will feel better and better each and every day. GOOD LUCK!!

My mom rejoined Weight Watchers and finally started seeing real progress at 50. It's not too late to build healthy habits, and it's certainly not too late to be happy. Keep yourself open to new experiences. Whatever your age and whatever you look like, you are good enough to try.

Happy Birthday! I am four years ahead and I love it here. I think it is something about certain numbers and artificial border lines that makes us upset but once you are on the next one everything is normal again. As for the blubber, it will go away, you just need to be persistent and accept the fact that at our age it will take more effort and time.

Thanks, all! I just went out and spent some money at an estate sale. Bought some vintage toys, Barbie stuff, and somehow I feel better. I also feel in control. I really feel like I'm starting over. I'm hoping dieting will remain as easy as it has been for the last four hours. lol! :) Onward, ho! I can and will do this with success!!!
