Going up to Dartmoor today .... got a voucher for a cream tea at the Two Bridges Hotel to use (was a Christmas present from Peter last year valid for 12 months, so about time we used it really!!) I know I shouldn't have a cream tea but it's going to be a nice one-off treat!

OMG! The picture on the voucher was of a scone, jam & cream so we assumed it was just a cream tea! We'd been intending to have a quick walk on route to Two Bridges but it was freezing cold, very windy and threatening to rain so we went straight to the hotel and got there at 2pm ... too early for a cream tea. So David bought us a half pint of cider each and he had a packet of crisps. At 3.30pm he went up to hand in the voucher for our cream tea and got very confused when the lady asked him if either of us was allergic to fish!! When he said no, she said right you'll be having the works then!! When our "cream tea" arrived, it was huge and sitting on of those three tiered plate stands. The bottom plate had salmon sandwiches, beef & horseradish sandwiches, brie & chutney sandwiches (2 of each) and parsnip crisps on it. The middle plate had a slice of Victoria sandwich, a chocolate éclair, a chocolate brownie and a slice of Christmas cake cake with icing for each of us. And the top plate had a huge

(Cont'd) Scone each, a glass piled high with thick devonshire clotted cream and another full of lovely raspberry jam. There was also a ginormous pot of tea and large jug of milk! YUMMY! David was a piggy and dived in and ate all of his apart from the Christmas cake! I gave up and left my éclair, brownie & Christmas cake. So we have brought a doggy bag home with us!

Good grief, I think I would have struggled too! Not so sure about Bob, he can put the food away when he wants.

He he! David is now complaining of tummy ache and saying he doesn't want any supper!!!!! I'm sitting here working up the courage to put it all onto my food diary!

Oh well I've recorded everything I ate and tried to guess at weights ... but who knows! Don't think I require anything else to eat today .. feeling absolutely stuffed! It was a lovely treat though sitting next to an open fire in a sumptuous historic hotel and eating a yummy afternoon tea .. all for free courtesy of my lovely step-son!

Well done Carol, and you have managed to keep within your daily allowance - that's quite an achievement given the size of it all!!! :) looked scrummmmmyyyy!!!!!

Thanks. It was scrummy! Yes I've stayed within the 2000 daily allowance, just, but I didn't have any hot food today at all other than a slice of toast for breakfast, all i ate out was just 3 small sandwiches, a scone and a small slice of sponge!! Makes you think how ruddy quickly the calories can add up with that sort of food doesn't it?! What would my count of been if I had eaten the chocolate éclair, the brownie and the Christmas cake as well I wonder?!!
