Horrible rainy, cloudy, misty & murky weather today in the Lake District. Not brilliant for photography and definitely not the weather for sitting by a lake to paint!! We managed a short walk on the banks of Lake Coniston though before the heavens opened, then a dash to the cafe for a light lunch.

Should have stayed in Devon and joined me and Wanda on the coast path from Kingswear! Weather cloudy but dry and crisp, it was heavenly :)

I bet!
I almost wish I had stayed at hhome if I'm honest. The journey up here over 2 days was very long & much slower than usual due to all the traffic jams and my bad leg didn't travel well! Cottage is a lot smaller then photos suggested and shower in the wet room is useless and the one downstairs doesn't work at all hardly, and there is a small building immediately behind it ( an old barn not shown in the photos that has been converted into an office with 4 people working in it), but other than that its lovely.
I would've been happy staying in the cottage today and reading or something but David insisted on going to Coniston ( a fair distance from here on narrow twisty bumpy roads). I suggested going to a nice cosy pub we know for lunch by a roaring log fire ... oh no! We just had a snack lunch in the very busy cafe by the lake ... so busy we had to sit outside on the rain soaked patio with just a canvas awning for protection. It was wet & cold! He then drove on all the way to Derwentwater. . It would've been lovely had the weather been nice but it was so foggy & dull we could barely see the lakes and the mountains. Then when I again suggested the pub on the way back for a quick rink and a warm up he drove straight part it and went instead to the new tearoom at Dove Cottage .. only to find it being run by an Indian with loud Indian music playing!! My leg played up again being in the car all day.
Got back to the cottage and he just wanted cheese & biscuits again for supper and has been asleep either on the settee or the floor all evening! So no different to home really.
Weither bad again tomorrow according to forecast so I'm going to cook dinner here and stay in all day! Then weather going to be sunny for rest of week apparently .. fingers crossed! !
