mrgscott3's Journal, 02 Jun 20

I lay awake last night contemplating the support and advice, thank you Paul, that I’ve been given by some fantastic people on FS. I’ve come to the conclusion that some slack skin isn’t so bad for a 17st loss. Time to man up and cheer up. Thank you all, G

I think I’m having the same feelings George I’m going to admit trying for a figure of a 25yr old at 50 might be something out of my reach without the help of a surgeons knife😂

hellsbells69, I think I was just being to optimistic. Time to grow old disgracefully 🤪😈. I should count my blessings as there are many pare souls my age in a far worse state than me. At least I’m healthy and free of all meds. I don’t think I’d like to be 21 again anyway 😂 Take care bonnie lass x 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Wow, amazing loss, how long did that take? And did you do keto or calorie counting along with your exercise?

17st! wow, that's awesome. 👏

Debbiesu I counted calories, kept my protein high, carbs low and fat very low. Don’t touch bread, although I have the occasional slice of low carb bread, don’t touch potatoes, rice, pasta etc. Also binned all alcohol, now that was hard! 😂 The only dairy products I have is skimmed milk. I walk my dog lots, do yoga ( to a fashion) I also do strength training, resistance training and pilates. Couldn’t run for toffee! I started at 30st, 1800 cals, then after a month 1600 cals, then after 2 months 1400 then 1200 then 1000. If you make the right choices it’s amazing what you can eat on 1000cals. My downfall used to be that if I had a bad day I’d just think f@ck it, blew it, then give up. Nowadays if I have a bad day I just draw a line under it and start afresh the next day. I wasn’t always morbidly obese, around 10 years ago I had a bad motorbike accident, then my marriage broke up and I wasn’t seeing enough of my laddie who was 7 at the time. I guess looking back I was just in self destruct mode. I hope this helps pal, if I can help you any other way please don’t hesitate to ask, George

Debbiesu, sorry forgot to say it’s taking me around 2 1/2 years to lose 17st. It’s actually 17 1/2 now. No bariatric surgery, magic pills 💊 just a determined Scotsman, i used clothes more than the scales to judge my weight loss. x

Thanks Mr G, total inspiration seeing and hearing your story, thanks for the extra info, that's what I'm following so here's hoping I have a good result like you👍

You’ll do Debbiesu, you just gotta want it enough, don’t weigh yourself every other day. I used to weight once every 10 days to a fortnight, gives your body time to register the changes and you time to rectify any mistakes. Remember scales are only a number, it’s how you feel that matters, yes they are a handy tool but so is your clothing and a measuring tape. Don’t take me as an inspiration, I’m more off a warning to what can go wrong if you let your weight slide x
