ARB0001's Journal, 20 Nov 16

This might be the only year ever where I haven't had the least interest in all the Christmas foods, mince pies, rich fruit cake, stolen, marzipan, they have always been things I couldn't resist.
It was the same in summer I wasn't very interested in milkshake or ice-cream, not even ice-lollies it all just seemed like wasted calories instead of a wanted treat - but I didn't think it would still be the case.

Maybe I'm just a lucky one who only has to exclude all certain range of foods for a couple of weeks and then just loses interest in them - I just may never have realised before that would be all it takes.

Tiramisu was something I would eat the entire serving tray of in one 24 hour set - for quite a while I've been thinking how will I behave when I can have Tiramisu again - I kept thinking I'd be exactly the same with it - but recently I haven't even wanted to find out - I just don't know if it interests me anymore.

Meh I'm probably just experiencing a strange blip, I suspect that in a day or a week or a month (especially in a month) all those interests and temptations will be right back in the centre of my mind :)

This is just amazing. Your post today is so logical and it is all starting to make sense to me now. I can see what you have been eating to lose weight as I have looked at you food intake over a couple of days. It has taken me all this time to realise what my failings are, though I have been researching more about HFLC now. I'm impressed with you . X

I'm with you on the treats. Just no interest at all. It's a good thing!

I've never been interested in the sweet treats although I'm a sucker for decent cheeses and deli meats (I can't wait to try the smoked venison I picked up in Scotland last week - I've already started on the Bradan Rost). It sounds like you've weaned yourself off the things that aren't so good for you. Well done, ARB!

Thankyou but this is what I am eating now, l did it differently at the beginning. I lost my first stone and a half simply by eliminating wrong food without any portion control (succeeding in palate change and calorie control together is much less likely and not necessary with 100+lbs to lose). The next stone and a half I was ready to add portion control. The next I added more activity. The next l began to refine my choices and just play with variety and added as many higher cal items as I did lower ie salmon, egg, avocado, mackerel, steak were things I had planned to add at this phase, (i could have sooner but I knew I had a long road to travel so I planned ahead to reserve some foods till then). There was not a single stage where I was not comfortable with what I was eating, excluding or feeling, and now is no exception. Dieters who 'fail' have usually tried something they are not ready for, or expected to arrive fully into their plan as an expert instead of gradually in learners steps.

I think I have also lost interest in sweet things. I would always crave sweet things, but since cutting out sugar and reducing carbs, I have not craved them and feel better for it too!

You are so right ARB, taking it a step at a time and not over-facing yourself at the beginning is a sure way to success. I have taken a similar approach but probably less well thought out! It's a fantastic loss you have there, you must be chuffed to bits.

I've also lost interest in sweet treats. When I do occasionally have one, I don't enjoy it like I did, but it does tend to set off cravings for more, strangely. So mostly I say no now.
