I'm not weighing in yet but can I ask your advice regarding exercise? I suffer with severe lumbar disc degeneration and 2 slipped discs which makes pretty much all exercise impossible, even walking is painful, but I have got a recumbent exercise bike, an airwalker and a weights bench (the one that uses elastic ropes as resistance). I can use these as long as I don't go mad, obviously but what sort of workout should I be thinking? cardio one day and resistance the next and then alternate or should I do cardio and resistance on the same day and then have a day off to rest? Any suggestions of things I could try would be great. I can't get out of the house as I'm a single mum, but I would like to try and make an effort with what little equipment I have.

I cant say whats best for you only you know how much you can do without hurting yourself but personally i cant do weight exercise but i do use my exercise bike & walk, not on a regular basis tho (which i should) the best idea would be to ask your doctor or physio (if you have it) for an exercise sheet/plan, but i expect others on this site may have more of an idea than me. sorry i cant help in this instance but good luck

Thank you. I've been given the go ahead from my Dr who suggested working on strengthening my core first therefore protecting my back, then I will be able to do more at a later date but of course I want everything now lol

Thanks gilly. Hope the op goes well. I was supposed to be having fusion too but my spine is that bad that they had nothing strong enough to screw into to fix it so I just have to soldier on and take the painkillers. As for chasing my daughter, she's more of my personal helper and carer, which I wouldn't wish on any 7 year old, but she's a good girl and loves helping her mum. Fingers crossed we both achieve what we want!!!

Try building this 20 minute fat-burn into your weekly spinning routine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08f0qFwtuf0 but you must get comfortable and keep to your own level of intensity. I have had lower back problems for the past few years but this exercise helps me and I'm now hitting a fairly high intensity. This is not for everyone but I find it inspiring and you can burn fat for hours after doing it! Fitting your tablet/smartphone to the front of your spinner helps you to concentrate on the routine and the 20 minutes fly by. You can do this 2 - 3 times per week at your own intensity, keeping rest days or lighter exercises in-between.
