JockoT's Journal, 06 Dec 16

Our kitten sleeps on our bed. Usually jammed down between us! However, when I came to make the bed this morning I found she had piddled in on. So I have had to do a washing before going to work. Hope this is a one off and not a sign of things to come. I love her, but I won't put up with that.

Not good. Maybe she has a bladder infection? That's when my old cat used to have accidents. If you've a litter tray, see if she's using it more often to pee. If she is, that could be the problem and a quick (and financially painful) visit to the vet and antibiotics might resolve it

Aww hope she is ok. 🐈 Not good for you having to do washing before going to work

Oh what a nightmare! Maybe if there was a litter tray for it in the bedroom, just while she is young? Cats are usually very clean and if not, there is usually a reason. I hope you manage to sort it out. x

Oh dear Jocko. Poor puddy cat. 😿

She may have a urinary infection. My last female had that problem and she was scrupulous about going outside but started peeing in the bath (always the considerate pusska), easily sorted but cleaning up isn't, poor you.

Good advice here, Jocko. Most animals don't pee where they sleep. She just might have a problem.

How old is she Jocko? I have a kitten too (7 months, so more like a teenager in human terms), and he also likes to sleep with us (not always but usually). He's only recently been allowed to venture outside (he was a stray who adopted me 6 weeks ago, so we had to ensure he was neutered, chipped and vaccinated before letting him go out). He is very good at sneaking off the bed in the early hours to use his tray downstairs...which is easy for him to get to, and I agree with the others' comments that there may be an underlying issue here with your little one. Putting her tray in your room for a while may certainly help...does she normally use it without any problems ie is it easy for her to climb into? I have just 'googled' this concern and there are a host of reasons. It might be worth you doing a bit 'kitten homework'. Hopefully it could just be a one-off but better to be prepared for if there's a next time. I'd also ring your Vets to see what they suggest. A quick examination would put your mind at rest that she's ok. Let us know how you get on :)

She is 6 months old today. She gets in and out of her tray with no problems, She can jump onto a 55" high window sill from a standing jump! She hasn't used her tray any more than previously and was checked out by the vet last week for her spaying next Friday. She has just got a drinking fountain, with constant running water, so she may be drinking more than usual. I have been busy Googling for advice.

If she's due to be spayed next Friday, I'd definitely call the vet for advice, especially if she pees on the bed again. If she has an infection, they may be reluctant to operate. Also, they might be able to put your mind at rest better than we can or google

You can spend all day (and night) on Google...I know I did when we got our little munchkin...but I did find out all sorts of interesting (and not so) things about kittens' behaviours. Good luck and hope it was a one-off :)

Everything fine since. She slept on the bed, no problems, though I admit I was jumpy when she started her usual padding about, just before my alarm went off!

It could have been a one off. It does happen. You might be right that she's adjusting to her water intake with the new drinking fountain. Have a good day
