thomas rutherford's Journal, 21 Sep 17

Hi guys, not made an entry in my journal for a while now due to having man flue. You can imagine how lucky I have been as l was at deaths door and lucky to have survived, (had the snivels) lol got caught in the rain the other day and with the drop in temperatures l got a cold. Back to full health again so raring to back on my bike and that. You may have guessed l was not exercising at all, l took the break to recharge my batteries and get over a few niggles I have with my knees, to many years lugging heavy packs both in the Army and pursuing my hobby mountaineering. It's took it's toll and doesn't take much for them to inflame and click. I've stuck to my diet and that's going well. I have added a few new recipes to my wholly inadequate cooking folder and so far I have produced quite good results. I have looked in envy at most of the wonderful meals most of you cook and wanted to eat the same. I thank you for giving me the courage to try something different and step out of my comfort zone. I am going to try a new recipe every week till I have at least 10 great meals that I can prepare and dish up easily. As l said earlier l have not done any exercise this week, well that changes as of tomorrow. I have a 30 miler tomorrow and a 42 miler on Sunday. Thankfully my legs will still be ok and I don't see any problems. Sunday will include a couple of guys my cycling buddy knows. They are younger than us so l expect the pace to be higher and the few climbs on the loop to challenge me lol can you see what I did there lol 😂 I have made light of it so that I can get a good nights sleep before they destroy me lol 😳😳if I am able to lift my phone afterwards I will let you know what happened. Rest assured I will not give up on the ride, l may cry afterwards at home but they will not see that lol just looked out the window and true to form it's starting to rain, forecast is sunny and dry tomorrow and overcast and dry on Sunday ?? I can only live in hope they have got it right. Ok then guys I am going to sign off and get my guitar out, l've not upset the neighbours for a while, in fact I was asked how my cat was the other day 🤔🤔🤔🤔l don't have a cat 🐱 l wonder what they are talking about, it's beyond me lol hope you are all well and in good health. Take care bye for now

man-flu is often underestimated by those who have never suffered it's effects. you should count yourself fortunate to have survived intact. well done sir...👏👏👏
