First week making a vague effort, not been mega strict or owt but 3lb down. Haven't counted last couple of days, not cos I've been on some massive feasts or owt, just been busy and not felt like I've had time to think about what I've been eating. At work, now and again you end up on these silly streaks, couple of weeks ago I did 10 shifts in 8 days, now I'm getting towards halfway of 9 shifts in 8 days. Which are good and bad... Yeah, I don't drink much when I'm on these silly stretches, but it can involve a fair bit of quick fix eating which isn't great.

We're going to Krakow next Wednesday. I was in Budapest a week and half ago, I'll probably be dropping by the insolvency service next month. These breaks are a bit of a double edged sword really, being a vegetarian in mainland Europe feels a bit awkward than being a vegetarian in the UK, and partly out of laziness I'll end up eating pizza pretty much the whole time. But then you can have a look online and I've come across this and a few others https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g274772-d697122-Reviews-Momo-Krakow_Lesser_Poland_Province_Southern_Poland.html. Could well end up with the helathiest meal I've had in my whole life from there.

Course there'll be more than the usual drinking too, especially when the drinks are cheaper than here and there's no work tomorrow. But there'll be more than my usual walking too. Mentioned this pedometer I didn't even know was working on me phone the other day, I'm averaging a little over 10,000 a day but looking at my first full day in Budapest we did a little under 25,000. So there is that.

Late shift today anyway. I'll count today, but I don't want to be mega strict either.

Nice drop, however you came by it it's a lovely start, well done. You know what you have to do RW and you'll hit your stride once you see the lie of the land; the pizza and beer can be got around as Polish food is fantastic (they do something with spinach and cheese that is positively addictive). Have a fun trip.

Have you thought of looking on Happycow.net? That's a good source for finding vegetarian / vegan places. The walking is a bonus, isn't it. Good loss, by the way.

Thanks, StrangeTrout. I have no intention of getting around the beer to be honest. Spinach and cheese are a great combination, I'll have a look out thanks.

Phooka, yeah I've come across Happycow but never had a proper look at it really. I love reading Trip Advisor reviews though, not to really influence where I go or anything like that, just cos half the time they're so ridiculous. Restaurant was closed, one star. Sod off.

Ha! I'm with you on that one RW, people really are very stupid sometimes. Am a great fan of Trip Advisor and it does influence me - I've found some great restaurants if you can wade through the BS.

The BS is my favourite bit, it's hilarious, people just need to work on their expectations. Was in a pub before a gig the other night and thought I'd check see if there were any funny reviews for the place on there. It was a fairly typical studenty type of pub not far from the university, nowt fancy, just somewhere basic for a quick pre-gig pint and meal if you fancied it. Someone posted about their burger being crap. Hang on, you paid £7 for that and got a pint with it, what are you expecting? Some people seem to expect Michelin treatment at Wetherspoons!
