I did not achieve my extended fasting goal HOWEVER, I am getting closer to Onederland.

My trigger yesterday was hearing my coworker who sits 4 feet away chew potato chips late afternoon. I responded by opening my drawer and taking out 14g of pork rinds (I've measured enough with the food scale at home in the last 42 days to identify by sight the amount), putting them a paper towel, and then slowly I chewed and chewed and chewed until the serving was gone.

I ended my day with a quick motorcycle ride, a low carb meal, 5 oz of merlot and more crunchy pork rinds.

The struggle is real, but you can still overcome. Let's go!

BTW - This is my lowest recorded weight in the last 11 years and my body fat is 22.3%. #WINNING

OMG you are so rocking this, good for you after fasting for that long I would have gone over and ripped the bag of potatoe chips out of their hands..lol..no seriously totally would have done that. I can only hope that I can maintain my focus the way you have 2.5 weeks and counting:)

Thanks From371to184, karenhaley and Tbaygirl. This fast was only 20 hrs and I should have gotten up out of my chair to take a quick walk when I heard him crunching on the chips. I am doing better and better each and every day. Do you want a laugh? Take 20 minutes and go back and look at some of my journal entries of when I REALLY gave in. The struggle is real! Longer fasts are in my future when I am truly Fat adapted.

I remember (before retiring) co-workers ruining so many good intentions I had for eating on any given day. There was a cafeteria downstairs and 2 co-workers EVERY morning would go down around 9am and bring up their breakfast which included hash browns and bacon. You could smell it throughout the floor. Then you'd see 1 by 1 another 10 or so people decide to go get breakfast. Sometimes I was able to resist, more times than not I gave in. I actually remember it was a breakfast bagel with eggs and bacon and it came with hash browns.

5.5 pounds to go to the hundred club. Nice work tiger. Love your posts. I wish I could have a wine with you. I could play some Neil Young on the guitar, you could sing, the gathering of people would flock around and we would end up drinking beer and blaming each other for our respective carb transgression and never talk to each other again. Keep up the good wok hundred clubber

Thanks John, Apache and Fady. Pumping the brakes on foods and drinks for the night while I'm at 29.94 net carbs. Faddy sounds like you are describing my tomorrow evening's "Thirsty Thursdays". 199 is in the cross hairs now. GAME ON!

So how long was the actual fast? Congratulations on being part of the 100 club. I'm already less than when I got married at 19. Not bragging. Nobody is happy to be 180lbs at 19 yrs old but I top out at 263 in 2004. One thing I've finally done is effected some positive behavioral changes in my eating habits that have resulted in my 50+ lbs since February. Im interested in gaining an understanding of the LC ketogenic diet as it might help my very overweight diabetic husband. But only if he wants to change. I thought my efforts might encourage him? Not! He's very supportive of my efforts but does not seem interested. I think he has untreated depression. It's much easier to deal with your medical problems if you're not depressed on top of everything else. Anyway back to you and your success. I'd love to be able to explain how much you've accomplished? Because from what I observed of your posts you have worked hard and been making a lot of progress.

Thanks ImLaura & paulanavarette (RN). @Paulanavarette, diet doctor dot com is an excellent resource for learning about LC Ketongenic diet. I also am a fan of Peter Attia MD founder of Attia Medical, PC, a medical practice with offices in San Diego and New York City. His eating acadamy dot com is his personal blog and it is very powerful especially his 4 part personal nutritional journey. I only lasted 20 hr on this recent fast due to a sound trigger (please refer to my response earlier in this thread for more info) I am flattered that you enjoy my posts. This is just me. Telling him about me may not motivate him. Motivation comes from within. I just got sick and tired of the way I looked and felt. Send me a PM and I can share a trick that could work on him. I used this jedi mind trick on my wife and she is in nursing school now in her early 40s. Onward I go.. -Ches
