5 days in. Not much happening. I'll just trust what I'm doing. It should work out fine. Not anxious... yet.

Found this on youtube last night. This woman summed it up perfectly for a person looking for a dogmatic, guaranteed method of weight loss. This is what I believe. It's worth your 9 minutes. I can completely relate.

Thanks for sharing that clip. There is a lot of substance under the surface of this lecture.

I will have to take a look at these when my HugesNet is back up to where I can stream videos. It's the price we pay to live out in the boonies among the wildlife.

It's not just complicated -- it's complex. I've found this in my own journey from fat to thin(ner). I keep trying different stuff, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Because my own psychology is one of the big variables, some little change (like, for instance, what time I eat breakfast) can have a big difference on the day's outcome (like, having a hard time getting to sleep because I'm laying there feeling hungry. So a late-night snack blows up the day's calories by 15 percent.) I am currently feeling reduced patience with those overly dogmatic individuals who say basically "This one little piece is the whole puzzle, and anybody who disagrees is Wrong! Wrong! WRONG! (And dangerous and probably evil.)

Hey NM, workouts going fine with the new equip.? Thnx for posting the clips! James, hope it wasn't me that added to your reduced patience, if it was I'm sorry...I was just frustrated myself...

What I like James are the people who say all you need to do is ADD calories from their product to lose weight.

Hi Northernmusician it seems like a plateau in your weight loss. I once learned at Lindora clinic the plateau busting diet- 3 oz white fish, 1 cup spinach, 2 cups lettuce? Maybe it will work?

NM, thank you so very much for the youtube TEDTalk. There have been multiple videos, studies and opinions posted over the past few weeks. This is probably one of the strongest pieces I've ever seen. Like you, I can relate.

Steven -- don't consider that comment as aimed at any particular person. Just at dogmatism in general. It is such a silly and frustrating debate when the ultimate answer (as in most things) is really "Your Mileage may Vary." It's especially frustrating to see that type of thread blowup on a new person's hello comment.

I love that approach to diet dogma! "Mileage may vary."

Fish, spinach and lettuce sounds good, anyway. Can't hurt!

I'm starting to think that an appropriate response would be "My karma ran over your dogma." I've seen this as a bumper sticker and it's funny - but when you think it thru, there's a lot of truth there.
