Lorneylorna's Journal, 15 Feb 16

So happy! Not only reached my goal, but exceeded it by quite a margin. This has been a bumpy road for me, but I think I am in a better place mentally with food now, I still gorge on certain things, but I just need to not put them in my shopping basket and the problem is solved. Nuts are my biggest weakness still, so apart from making a nut roast next week for a vegetarian friend, I will be avoiding the little kernels of loveliness from now on. I am ready to start my maintenance plan after next week, we have two lots of visitors arriving one after the other next week, so don't want to change anything until I have the space to do so. I celebrated my loss today with bacon, low carb pancakes and sugar free maple syrup and savoured every mouthful (I didn't do pancakes on shrove Tuesday). Right off to be smug for the day haha.

Congratulations and well done. Not to put a damper on the occasion, now begins the maintenance part of the process. Back in the 90's I reached target weight (won slimmer of the year in my club) and maintained it for a year. However, I then let go of the reins and now I am back doing it all again. Enjoy the day.

Oh dear Jocko, i too have lost weight before. I always used to be quite trim as a teenager and in my early 20's until a past partner told me I was fat ( I really wasn't ) and I went on a diet, lost far too much weight and ever since then I have battled with my weight doing all the diets out there. I will be doing my best to make this a permanent lifestyle change, I have calculated my macro nutrient requirements for maintaining and plan to remain as a FS member in order to monitor my intake, hopefully that will help me to keep this weight into the future.

I think keeping track of intake will be good. I've already put a note in my calendar to tell myself I have to do that when I reach maintenance, which won't be for a few months yet. I am terrified that I'll put it all on again. I'm hoping that the smaller clothes I plan on buying will act as 'weight police' too!

I am buying myself a whiteboard to write myself reminders and motivational messages, I hope it will help to keep the momentum of maintenance. I have been watching someone sabotage another's weight loss success by getting them little treats as they have done so well, so sad that they think that is the right thing to do. I will use my board to remind me why I will say no thank you to such 'treats'.

Courage! Smaller clothes didn't work for me, I just got well into comfort eating in the run up to Xmas. I'm hoping the discipline and awareness this wonderful site has given me will carry me thru when I arrive at maintenance. At the moment, maybe because I've started the 5:2 fast diet, my desire for food as an enjoyment rather than nutrition has decreased.

You can definitely do it Candy, if you use this site and set your self little goals, I found the smaller achievements motivated me more than the final goal of where I am today. The 5:2 diet wad my saviour, it helped to improve my relationship with many foods... except nuts, they are still my nemesis haha. Good luck anyway 😀

They say nuts are OK don't they? Yes the 5:2 diet really has been wonderful for re aligning myself re compulsive eating. I find it so easy to not eat for a day, next week I'm going to maybe run the two days together. In the fast beach diet, they do also advise starting out on the fast day from midday to midday, so you sleep thru most of it, that's clever! I hope to soon be able to wear some of my favourite dresses without them being to horribly tight anymore. Let's see what tomorrow's weigh in brings.
