Struggling with parents care. Keep me in your thoughts please.

that is not an easy task. is there and elderly outreach program to assist you? always ask for help wherever you can get it. my heart goes out to you and your family.

You and Mom2Boxers!...and so many of my friends. Take care of yourself, and also -- see if there is an Area Agency on Aging. There may be resources to help you with this journey. Good luck.

I hope you can find a good caregiver for them. I would probably be with my Mom all the time if my sister hadn't put her life on hold to take care of them before my Dad passed away.

Your parents are fortunate to have someone who is willing and selfless enough to assist them during this time of their lives. Stay strong and remember to take of yourself as well. You have to remain healthy both physically and emotionally in order to better serve those around you.

You may be able to get help from hospice (covered by Medicare) if one or both of them is deemed to be in the last 6 months of life. Hospice providers do an assessment in your home. Even if a person turns out to live longer, you can start a new 6-month period. AARP's website may be a source of information for you as well. See aarp.org and you don't have to be a member to utilize their resources.
