Being poorly sick on Friday put a bit of a halt on my challenges but hopefully I shall scrape through.

Diabetic Health Check last Wednesday, and hoping I've managed to maintain my blood sugar levels at around normal, though following a letter from the doctors that my blood test results are in I'm a bit concerned as they now want me to go back for a Liver Function blood test in 2 weeks, I assume concerning my cholesterol levels. I can't cut back on anything else regarding cholesterol, but then the nurse told me that it could be genetic, and as my paternal grandfather died of a stroke and my father died a couple of years ago (at 84 mind) of a heart attack I guess they have something there. So here's my problem. If my cholesterol is high do I accept it and take the statins or continue to try and bring them down naturally, though I'm not sure what else I can do? I'm not one for taking medication of any kind, even for a headache. And on top of this I am worried that my sugar levels will have gone up again too despite my efforts. Will be ringing them tomorrow to find out the worst. :(

Let us know the results. I'm sure you and your doctors will make the right decisions . Just FYI, I take pravastatin . No problem .

I take Atorvastatin, haven't had any problems. Have stopped a couple of times for 3 months because of muscle aches, but have found both times that the muscles aches were due to something else I was doing! I hope you don't need to take statins, but if your doctor recommends, then I would say do it because high cholesterol is DEFINITELY bad for you long-term, whereas most people suffer no ill effects from statins. There are several different kinds too, so if you do get any side-effects, you could try another sort. I'm hoping that if I lose enough weight, I can come off them. But if it is genetic, I will have to keep on with them.

Hope you get better soon. Best to get a specialist to check it out.
