northernmusician's Journal, 23 Apr 15

Fast day Sunday. Who's with me? (Silly sub challenges have made me give up on that whole thing.) We're talking no food after 8 PM Saturday night, and no food before 6 AM Monday morning. Water is fine. I'll allow you coffee. No other beverages.

You won't lose muscle mass. As near as the 'experts' can tell it takes 48 to 72 hours for the body to start metabolizing muscle if you're not doing strenuous exercise.

Are you in?

Back to 32" jeans. :)

I think it might be a good thing to have a Forum post Saturday to kick it off. Anyone fasting can go there to whine about the experience. :)

Umm, no, lol. I am doing an 8 mile run Sunday. They would have to scrape me off the pavement.

Hmmm I would fast if it was a week day! If I fast sunday my boyfriend and brother will get annoyed and force feed me. (they already think I am nuts following paleo) But on weekends I find I fast from 7-8PM to 12-1 PM the next day because I sleep in then take a walk in the morning...then my first meal is at lunch. Anyway gratz on the jean size 32!!!!! Goodluck on your fast!

That's a long time for me to go without food yikes, I'll try it

Have fun with that. Skipping meals is one of my migraine triggers. I don't need three days of blinding pain and nausea at the moment (yes, they usually last that long). Small meals work but no meals is a deal breaker for me. If it works for you, though, I'll keep clicking the support button for ya!

NM that isn't a challenge for me. I won't eat between 7 pm Saturday until 10 am Sunday when I meet my friends for breakfast before church. Make it something hard lol. My normal day is eating before 7 pm then not until 12:30-1 the next day, well except that today I started drinking my instant breakfast at 7:30 before my 11.9-13.1 mile (7 or 8 laps) walk. I think the protein beforehand will help.

congrats on the 32" jeans! as for the fast, i already follow a 16:8 IF schedule so not sure i should push it further... i don't think i could fast for a weekend day, what with being home with dh and him needing to eat. i don't think i have the willpower to cook for him and fast myself!

I might be inclined to join if it was another day, I can't this Sunday as I'm doing music for a church function that includes dinner. Not a good idea to be hungry going into that.

Oh, MONDAY morning. I missed that part. No that won't work for me. After 20 hours I try to throw up and pass out. Last week my calories vs miles was making me sick so I had to increase calories. Now I'm going to keep 11.9 mile walks plus housework etc and decrease my calories each week to 1400 again. I've been burning around 1800 calories walking on top of whatever my body burns to live. Gotta find a balance.

BALANCE...Now there's a word I need to hear on a REGULAR basis MS...AND NM Congrats on the jeans...You are on a MAJOR roll...Best regards for the rest of today !!!!

I think the 32" jeans was back in about 1972 or so for me. It's a dream at this point, and perhaps will remain so. I think I only weighed about 155 or 160 pounds back then. We shall see because I'm shooting for something close to that. Congrats to you though!

Russ. I think you'll find that the weight you have gained is upper body and not in the waist area if you can diet off the fat. My guess is you'll get very close to your old 32s. Unfortunately, the love handles seem to be the last to go.

Hmmmm...one of my workout days is Sunday so I doubt I could make that without the protein/almond butter shake that gets me through the session.

Sorry I won't be joining you but will be cheering you on. I have a hard time even sticking to 16:8 on weekends.
